James Owen was living with son James Mills when the whole family died of milk fever...NOT related to alcohol fever. Milk fever, from what I understand, comes from cows who have grazed on poisonous plants. This is what happened to the Mills family after settling on Congress lands in the Patoka River bottoms in Gibson County, Indiana.
