I also question the results from just one descendant, Pat. We can't go on just one descendant who has the paper trail from Zachariah, said s/o George. One really needs to have at least two if not more descendants of definitely different branches who have their paper trail back to Zachariah. There is always the chance for an adoption, illegitimacy, alias, or adoption of mother's maiden name, or other non-paternity event when basing lineage on just one DNA descendant. It's like ours...we know with two of researching and our participants matching DNA from different branches we are probably on the right trail. I'm not ready to throw out Zachariah as a son of George just yet. I think we have to wait to find other branches of his descendants. George transferred land to his son Zachariah on 22 February 1678/9 (p. 8). If the DNA of a supposed male descendant of Zachariah does not match other descendants of George (I haven't looked at the DNA website) it could indicate a non-paternity event somewhere in the line. DNA has identified a male descendant of my Peter Mills whose surname was Cobb. Turns out he was the son of a woman's first husband, Jonathan (I think) Mills. She later married a man named Cobb. When the descendant's DNA didn't match any Cobb but did match Peter Mills line, he came looking. Helen Ullmann [email protected] wrote: >Today's Topics: > > 1.
