Have you also tried to contact those posters?? I once thought that maybe that John might be the same John JR of John Sr = Rebecca SMITH MILLS family line. I once had a oonversation with a Betty who lives in Missouri and her aunt had done extensive research on that branch of the family, about 10 years previous. Saying that he moved around quite a bit, and was married more than once or twice. In John's application for land from the British government in Grimsby, ON CAN, that he and his wife and 4 small children traveled from New Jersey, through the enemy lines, and that he almost lost his life and his health. He is noted as having been on the pillory in very inclement weather. In the Council of Safety book records, mentions that some men were dispatched to Pittsfield to escort those loyalists back to New Jersey, Elizabeth for prosecution. It lists those other wives names, but so far I have not found any of those surnames referenced to date. Or those other men also listed on those pages. Possibly not yet researched by their descendants?? DO NOT KNOW. (In the Interim those pages have gone missing.) Not really sure if the John MILLS' would have traveled that far to Canada and back to New Jersey, and or if it were possible back and forth during those eventful periods. A very long way to travel for sure. John does state that he lost all his property located in New Jersey, later found to be Sussex Co., by other descendant researchers/family members. Cornelius married Matilda BEADLE had the following children: 4. Phoebe, Minard E, Ira, Priscilla, Matilda, Daniel, William. 4. Phoebe married Samuel HAIGHT, they had 5. Rosetta and 5. Samuel M HAIGHT. Samuel was son of Reuben HAIGHT died 1851 in Spara, ON CAN. 4. Priscilla married Mr. DARLING. Sarah MILLS(Cornelius - John - MILLS) married Mr. DOAN had Abgail Sarah DOAN married Sherman G LINNELL he born Lynne, Jefferson, NY USA. Samuel MILLS son of John and Abigail above noted married Anna CHASE LUTON had the following children: William John MILLS, George Washington MILLS. William John married Eliza Ann BAILEY. George Washington MILLS married Mary Catherine MCKENZIE. John MILLS son of John and Abigail married and had 15 children.
