I was able to locate John Mills through Sharon Smith's information. She had the news paper information that covered the story as well. We have a Nasby Mills from Pitt County, NC in our family as well. He was born in 1777 and was married to Ester Haddock. That's about all I know about him. He had a son (several really) named Clark Mills. He went by Big Clark because he named one of his son's Clark. He was also the father of Brice Mills who was the father of my Great Grandfater, John Mills (who was shot and killed at age 21). What's odd about that is that Brice Mills, John's father, was shot and killed too at age 28 at a political gathering in Knox County. But again, Thanks for the information.
