Good afternoon Hugh, Larry and others. I am Michael Mills the 10th grandson of William Mills who arrived in Maryland circa 1651. . William Mills begat two sons and three daughters before he died in 1676 in Southern Maryland. His sons names were William, bn circa 1660 and John., bn circa 1665. William bn 1660, died in 1705 and his son William died in 1717 leaving no male children. John begat four sons, William, John, Robert and Richard. John (Five Shillings John) appears not to have been in the favor of his father and at William's death received only five shillings and no real property (That is to say land). Instead John's forty acres went to William. John appears to have moved and set up residence along Goose Creek, Beaufort County, NC, across the creek from his sister Mary Mills who married Dr Edward Travers in 1725. The fly in the ointment appears as Larry Mills of TN and others, including my self who have provided DNA samples to the FTDNA project and who all believe that we relate to the John Mills of Beaufort County, NC do not match. My Mills line indicates that William Mills, bn 1628 in Cratfield England migrated to Maryland as an indentured servate to Edward Eltonhead in 1651, William begat John in 1665. John begat Robert circa 1685 to 1690. Robert begat John 1730. John begat Jesse 1753. Jesse begat Joseph William 1797, Joseph begat John from a second marriage to Martha Ellen Day in 1863. John begat George Oscar in 1909 and George begat Richard Allen in 1396 and Richard begat me, Michael Allen in 1957. Again the fly in the ointment is that Larry and I do not match which would mean that there is a woodpile phantom somewhere along the line. Any insight or thoughts you can provide would be helpful. Feel free to call me if you like at 301.370.4393. Thanks Michael A. Mills , Michael A.
