Temperance Cory, supposedly the spouse of Abraham Shepard. And their daughter, Temperance Shepard, the spouse of George Oldfield. My Mary Shepard is the sister of the latter Temperance Shepard Oldfield. I think this is true because Mary Shepard married William Willis Pearce who, with his brother, seemed to be in the Oldfield household as young men. I supposed, again, very bad, assume, comes along with supposing, that way back when at the beginning of the RootsWeb web site, the original 250, Cheska WHEATLEY, etc, not everyone was very good about making sure their sources and references were as accurate as possible. Maybe back tracking, you may find a grave stone inscription, and or something else that would account for the death dates. I can only give what I have compiled, and accumulated over time, since 1972. And also now observed. I see that on BUCHROEDER's data base for Temperance, he has her death date as 1 8 68, not 1768. Orange County, New York. And no spouses for her at all. Not really much else help. Save as to how everyone else as their family members listed, and then I have observed over time, how the surnames seem to inter twine around and around each other and mine too. None of the names in the Levi/Nathan family track with mine. My problem now is the date of Temperance Cory Shepard's death. Someone has provided "Dec. 1768" and, if possible, I would like to know the source. If Abraham died in 1779, it would explain his daughter Temperance Shepard quickly marrying the widower neighbor, George Oldfield, and taking smaller siblings with her to that household. However, her sister, Mary, my ancestor, married William Willis Pearce, also in the Oldfield household, in Jan. 1791. If she was 16 she would have had to be born in 1774. They had children almost every two years from 1793 to 1810, then another son in 1815. There is no record she died about 1810 and he remarried in Ontario Co. If she did not have the last child, she still would have had to be born about 1770; otherwise, most likely she was born about 1774. I expect W. W. Pearce was born in the mid or late 1760s. So in backdating, I am trying to determine Temperance Cory's dates. I think I was through this before and Jonathan Cory's will mentioned her in about 1770, so I did not think she really expired in 1768 - I think that is one of the problems.
