    3. To those two new descendants on the list: I really hope you will eventually see my book on one line of this family. It discusses and tries to scotch some rumours about George, such as that his wife Rebecca was surnamed Tanner -- I don't believe it -- and that he came from Yorkshire -- I don't believe that either. This book is a serious, well-documented, prize-winning study -- if I do say so myself <g>. It refers to a lot of sources that you need to see. There are copies in various libraries and it is available for sale at www.NewEnglandAncestors.org. I am also willing to give a few copies to libraries as they've recently given me a deal on the price. If you have a good genealogy library near you (not just any library) and would like me to donate one, please let me know. It's also available by interlibrary loan from the St. Louis County, Missouri, Public Library and from NEHGS if you are a member. This is NOT my own family. I did the book for an NEHGS patron. Sincerely, Helen Schatvet Ullmann, CG, FASG

    2. Do not know if it is of any help, but Ira D Mills DAR Patriot, married before 1850. He had a son Preston. It might be that family branch. Other children were Rhoda Marie, Louisa, Parris, William, Lydia C, Ira D Jr., and James. At that time, I only wrote down the names. Rhoda married John Hester. Louisa married Mr. Lewis, Lydia C married Mr. Smith. I found his name and this reference from the LDS Library a long time ago. The film number at the WLA LDS FHL Center, in Westwood, Ca. Film number was 4672 at that time.1980's or so. They had a different numbering system in those days. Per Mildred Jones of Reseda, CA a long time ago.

    2. Helen: Hope that maybe in the interim, someone there at the library got into it, and put it in some sort of order for researchers to be able to make head and tail of. And too with computers, maybe they managed to put it on one in their facility. Would be nice if it did happen that way. When and if I can get around to writing to them, I will make every effort to be as clear as I can for the information that I may be in search. pat cw

    1. Re: WorldConnect: Post-em posted
    2. Hi Ron: No, it does not alter any info that you have posted on your page for John and Rebecca, that I can see. But what the copies from the New Jersey State Archives, at Trenton, NJ, does confirm what you have typed on your bio for him. Except I just noticed that you say he was previously a resident of Staten Island, NY? Was this before he went to PA and then moved to NJ? There is some reference in the ASHBRBIDGE book about Mary's family, her son, James, and something about the MILLS and ASHBRIDGE's going to the coast of NJ about some land, does this ring any bells with what you have read about them? I read it just briefly, and did not make a copy of the reference as I was in a hurry and had to run out for a little while that day. I was just trying to clarify the reference that Mr. Dilts has on the family page for John and Rebecca, that as far as the information on those particular pages, to the archivist and me, does not apply to John B: 1733, UE Loyalist of Canada. Unless Mr. Dilts has some other information that he has, that he neglected in a hurry as well, to type onto the page at the same time. I have written him, several emails, several post em's and so far have not heard back from him. I am not sure if he is still with us, Or if he is just angry with me for pointing out his oversight? DO NOT KNOW. If you know him personally, could you possibly intervene for me and ask him to please reply so that I can get a clarification as to his intentions about John MILLS B: 1733 UE Loyalist and John MILLS, who signed the land purchase agreement on June 10, 1697, and the deed as well. Thank you so much. Pat cw I am sending this to the list as well. I do not remember which Mills L or MILLS D to send it to, but will send to both, at least that way, I am covered. Maybe with some fortune, I can be put in touch with Mr. Dilts, and or a relative of his.(DO NOT KNOW)

    2. Helen S. Ullmann
    3. I'm pretty sure the Mills material that the Orange Co. Genealogical Society has was collected by William Heidgard (am not sure of the spelling of his name). It's probably similar to what is in the New Paltz library, where I spent an afternoon about ten years ago going through a very confused file. So I just thought I'd warn you to be very careful and check whatever sources he may mention. He collected an enormous amount of information, but what I saw was repetitive and disorganized.
