Pat My Thomas J Mills and his son James Mills from MO are not a part of Ira Mills. He has the same names in his family but I cannot identify him as a family member. I was in Jasper Mo and had copies made of the probate records of the Mills who are listed in Jasper Mo during the 1880. It is far from complete as yet, so may have more info before the book is finished. So far: MARTIN, JAMES H., born ca. 1818, NY, may be he who married on 14 Mar. 1844, Washtenaw Co., MI to OLIVE (CALLUM). James H. married on 2 May 1848, Shiawassee Co., to Mrs. JANE ANN (MILLS) BEARD, widow of Henry, and probably daughter of Isaac Mills of Burns Twp. They were in the 1850 census of Burns Twp. with probably James’ children, ALBERT W., age 5 (probably he in Jackson, MI in 1880 census); MALISSA M., age 4, both b. Mich.; and the son of James & Jane, ISAAC J., age 2/12, Mich.; and her son, Henry W. Beard, age 4, b. Mich., in the household. There were also supposedly children, REBECCA & CHARLES. Source: Marriage Index: Mich. & Wisc. 1820-1900. MILLS, CHARLES C., born ca. 1823, NY, married on 19 June 1847, Shiawassee Co., to MARGARET (BEARDSLEE), born ca. 1829, Mass., and they were in the 1850 census of Burns Twp. with HERBERT, age 2, b. Mich., with them. MILLS, ISAAC, born ca. 1791, and wife, REBECCA, born ca. 1797, both in NY, and it is probably he in the 1830 census of Cato, Cayuga Co., NY. They were in the 1850 census of Burns Twp., Shiawassee Co. with JOHN, age 12; JAMES, age 12, both b. NY, with them. Probably daughter of this family, JANE ANN b. 29 Aug. 1825, Weedsport, Cayuga Co., NY (m. 18 Jan. 1846, Shiawassee Co., to Henry Beard of Burns Twp., m/2 1848 to James H. Martin, Burns Twp.). Also see CHARLES C., preceding. There was an ISAAC in the 1840 census of Bloomfield, Oakland Co., MI.
There is also a Thomas J MILLS, who is the son of Ira D. MILLS. Thomas is listed as a reference from the DAR, through Mildred Jones of the DAR in Reseda, Ca. Thomas J. Mills is noted as a reference about Jasper Co, MO. Is this not the family that someone else just asked about a Preston MILLS? Ira has a son Preston. Also Ira was married twice. But I do not have that family on any of my files. Spouse or children. See old MILLS LIST postings recently, April or May, re this family line. Also I have a noted that On rootsweb.com message boards, a "Sam" was enquiring similar names, and counties. pat cw
Mary Hawkins, of Jasper Co, who is the wife of Willis MILLS, is the daughter of Ann MILLS and Isaac Hawkins. Ann MILLS is the dau of ELijah MILLS and Mary Hawkins of Clinton Co, Ohio. Mary apparently died in Lancaster, Indiana. Elijah had a brother Enoch, and he lived in Marion Co, IN. Possibly that is the connection of which you seek. Maybe it is the sons of this family that joined their cousins in Jasper and Newton, and then moved on to Oklahoma and Texas. There are other MILLS families of Indiana, the MILLS - DRIVER families, I know that did go to MO and some of them went up to Michigan and over into Wisconsin, too. MILLS married DENNIS, and MILLS married PAINTER, and so forth. I do not have spouses and children for all of these families, so cannot exactly identify the John F, Thomas, Thomas J, etc., but it just might be that is the connection of which you are in search. Pat cw And or maybe you already know all of this, and still it does not tie together.
Not sure if this is part or parcel of your MILLS search: Richard MILLS married Martha 1820/1825 Children were: William, 1828 Hanover, VA Elizabeth 1831 Hanover, VA Rebecca 1835 Hanover, VA Maria 1841 Hanover, VA Nathaniel 1846 Hanover, VA I just noted their names, and that I found the family on the May 1988 Virginia Microfiche. At that time, I was only interested in the letter R, T, and W MILLS. I must have gone back and gone over the rest of that state microfiche and picked up Elizabeth, Maria, Nathaniel. pat cw

I'm with Pat on this one - I don't know what everyone is talking about. Edward and Emma had at least 2 children. Edward COE MILLS, son of Charles LEWIS MILLS and Rebecca BARLETT SMITH, married Helen HOLMES Sept 27, 1888, Honesdale, Wayne, PA, Edward and Helen had 4 children. (Does anyone know where Helen died and is buried?) Thank you. I notice that Edward C MILLS, who married Sarah HUNTER, were married in 1826, but I do not seem to have the first children that they had? The first child I have listed is born in 1829? For Edward C MILLS, who married Elizabeth COLLINS, I notice that I have a marriage date of 1842, but the first child birth date I seem to have is 1845, does anyone have any children before 1845 listed for them. Thank you. Also that Edward C MILLS who married Martha STURDIVANT were married in 1853, but I do not seem to have the first children that they had either. The first child I have listed is born in 1856, does anyone know of these other children? Thank you. I do hope that these families are not mixed up. Pat cw
