Pat, just google "Belmont County" Ohio I quickly found http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohbelmon/ where there's a map. Helen
I have a map. Belmont Co., Ohio is on the far eastern border near Wheeling, WV. It's about even latitude with Columbus, Ohio. ChekWriter@aol.com wrote: Did you find that any of those MILLS family descendants of either Ezra or John came to that part of Ohio that was set up as the "Firelands". Had an interesting little conversation with Anita Lustenberger, editor of the DNA articles in NEW ENGLAND ANCESTORS magazine. She was emphatic that a 12-marker test really isn't sufficient to identify the haplotype. Sometimes many different surnames can have the same 12 numbers. I wondered if that might be somewhat due to variations on the surname, or maybe use of French-Canadian dit names, or northern European patronymics, etc. On the other hand, if all other indirect evidence already points seriously to an identification, would a 12-marker match be sufficient to draw a final conclusion? What do you think? According to his age at death, John Mills, living in Darien, Conn., at least 1820-1840, was just about the right age to be the unnamed son of Ezra Mills of Darien who was baptized in 1790. His 12-marker DNA test matches that of another well-documented descendant of Ezra. And there was no other Mills family in Darien, although there were others in neighboring towns who were members of entirely different Mills families. Helen Ullmann
I just clicked on the Message Boards for TYSON, and there are some postings about a family who has a Cornelius who was born in 1695. Have you read through those that have references about CORNELIUS' listed in their messages? If already done so, then the next best thing would be to check out the USGENWEB for the state and if you know what county they lived, then put it in. Maybe you might hit the marriage records for that time period. Pat cw
Sorry, may I amend my count. In putting just TYSON and MILLS, there are 64 different databases, and again none of them have any first name for the Miss MILLS. Since you are in and around VA and KY, I would look at the Nasby MILLS family line. And then again, I would at all the MILLS of NC who went to both VA and KY and then to NC. Which could be the John MILLS HARROLD BEALS BATES family lines. Do not have a map handy, where is Beaufort, NC or VA located. Is it any where near the James River? There was an early settler William and James MILLS on the James River, next to one another, very early on 1620=30s. Pat cw
Although Maud is not listed on his database, but she is listed in the notes for Noah MILLS. This is found on Mark and Susan Walton Family Tree database dated 3 29 2006, or is this you? It might be a possible link for you? They are listed as being born in Kentucky, but no county listed. Wish I could help more. So far most of my MILLS are Ohio, New Jersey and ? Pat cw
Looks like there are 30 or so people who have this family on their databases on rootsweb.com. However, no one has a first name for the Miss MILLS. Have you tried contacting each one who may have a valid email address? to compare notes? DO NOT KNOW if you have not already done so. But just in case,. . . . . . . . . . Pat cw
