Who is this Phebe MILLS who married John FISHER on Aug 6 1806 at Trinity Church, Manhattan, NY? see _http://www.trinitywallstreet.org_ (http://www.trinitywallstreet.org) married by Rev Benjamin Moore. Who are other MILLS listed belong, do not see them on RootsWeb? see other story about cemetery found same area of original black families, 100 plus and more to be disturbed of their resting places. This is all great news. I am so glad to be finally making progress. But I need to make clear that I am still searching for the connection of William Mills to Charles N Mills. I have begun a 'matrix' using all the information the census provides, and am looking for 'holes' that our William might fit into. Also unfortunately for the DNA study, the Mills line in our family ends with my husband's paternal grandmother Eunice E Mills. If through this study we find close Mills cousins, who can contribute y-DNA, I will certainly suggest they do so. Eunice Mills and her line represents an entire 1/4th of my husbands ancestry; no small portion of the picture. So if not able to contribute DNA, we are at very least, deeply interested in both the recorded history and the genetic gleanings. Hopefully more Iredell Mills will turn up. While it is still early yet in my study, I would be very interested in the copy of the page concerning Charles in "Marylanders to the Carolinas". Please send it along if possible. I am very familiar with this line of mills as I am from Maryland and descend from William Mills of Calvert / Prince George's County. I at one time belived I might have been descended from Charles Nathaniel Mills who went to Iredell County in the mid 18th century .... In fact his name appears in a book called Marylanders to the Carolinas. I made a copy of the page and would be happy to email same to you. In any even there is a fair share of info on this family in the Maryland Archive records and other repositories. Does any male Mills that you are familiar with have a DNA profile at this time with Family Tree DNA. I am sample 7652 in group 700. I do not at this time see a sample basis for your line of Mills so it would be helpful to locate same and convince him to submit a sample. Take care and I will await your reply Michael A. I have been trying to connect William MILLS (16 JUL 1819, NC-18 JUL 1893, Iredell, NC) to the family of Charles N. MILLS (1758-1854) of Iredell. William and his wife Sarah Ann — were both members of the St Michaels Evangelical Lutheran Church from the 1840's to the 1890's. Charles N. Mills was a charter member of this church, and helped secure the original deed. The only other MILLS male I find between mention of Charles (1823) and mention of William (1841) is Abner MILLS who is in the 1840 census, but is also a 'straggler' (I can't find record or hint of his parents' identity). William & Sarah Ann Mills had the following children: Franklin A MILLS Joseph Marion MILLS Mary Eleanor MILLS Sarah Elizabeth MILLS Jane MILLS (twin? may have died young) Margaret Lavinia Mills John Q Mills William Tobias MILLS George MILLS Jacob N MILLS Franklin A, Joseph M, and William T, all were listed in later St Michael's Church records. Other than the above families, a Dr. Robert W. Mills is the only other Mills reference (male) I can find in later records. Does anyone have a clue as to the origins of WIlliam Mills and wife Sarah Ann —? How about Abner? I would be very appreciative of a look-up in "Mills Family" by Marnie Harbin, "The Mills Family, its Origin, History and Genealogy 1730-1953 (author unknown) and "Multitude of Mills" by Jennings...none of which I have access to, but all of which I have seen as source material for various related data. If the authors of these books list William and his family as "unplaced" I would like to know. Thank you! Sarah

My g-g-grandmother, Clara MILLS', dob is recorded in our family bible as 28 Aug 1843. Her death certificate records her place of birth as Suffolk. In the BDMs and IGI the only Clara MILLS born around that time has a dob of 22 Aug 1842. Before I send away for this certificate I want to try and clarify if this is, in fact, her. Her father's name on her marriage certificate (to Thomas Harvey CHANDLER) is William. There is no mention of her mother. However, her death certificate records her mother's name as Sophia with strangely no referernce to her father. Would it be possible for somebody to check the 1851 or 1861 census to see if there is a Clara MILLS with parents William and Sophia? Does anybody else have some connection to this family? I have no other info and don't quite know where to go next, Thank you Ray Chandler Ipswich QLD Australia
