I was hoping your Elizabeth Mills could be the one listed on the 1790 Census of Wilkes County NC; however, she was likely either a widow or an unmarried head of household. She wouldn't have had a Mills child in 1798.(Unless she remarried to another Mills--it could have happenend that way, but not too probable). Other names connected with this county in NC around 1790-1800 are Simon Mills, John Mills, William Mills who married Salley Strutton, Isham Mills, Hardy Mills who married Frances Carpenter. Has anyone figured out anything about the Elizabeth Mills I reference here? Pat, I have already forgotten the question. I have been in contact with the "moody" part. I think I wondered why I was getting moody-mills stuff and I think I have also finally figured it out. hi sally. was not sure of your question. however, Marianne back in Sept 2005 wrote to the mills list about Cebron Blair mills, and an Eunice e. who then or previously had married a scearce/searce. I did look up on roots web and there are several who have mills married to moody people. was just trying to assist that other databases might give a clue for you both, now 3 of you with similar family names. pat cw
hi Monty. meant that a mills married a moody. is this part of the Cebron Blair mills line, whose wife was Eunice also.she also married a searce/scearce? pat

I don't understand the moody part of mills moody. I have absolutely no interest in moody. I have friends that I love named moody and I had a 6th grade teacher that was kicked out of 3 states, looked like hitler only taller and was a confessed communist. No interest. So what did I do to get this response and what can I do to correct it? sally montgomery -- "If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy." - U.S. President James Madison -------------- Original message -------------- From: ChekWriter@aol.com > have you written or emailed the other mills moody databases on rootsweb? > > same county, Iredell/Iredale, sounds alike? > > Might be a lead for you in connecting to the right family mills and more > info maybe. > > pat > cw > > > ==== MILLS Mailing List ==== > To unsubscribe from the MILLS list, send the command "unsubscribe" to > MILLS-L-request@rootsweb.com (if in mail mode) or > MILLS-D-request@rootsweb.com (if in digest mode.) > > ============================== > Search the US Census Collection. Thank you, Sally, for your sense of humor on this less than light- hearted subject. I apologize for noting the moody part of Eunice's name, as it is irrelevant, unless someone does not believe I have the right Eunice Mills. I have nothing other than the SS Death Index to prove her date of birth, and thus link her to the NC Birth index and her parents. My interest is in MILLS of Iredell Co., NC, possibly of Maryland, and partly of Rowan Co., NC. I too have no interest in moody, only the unfortunate circumstance of having a Mills ancestor die with that name. No offense meant, though, to any moody people out there. Now, back to the MILLS. Some of you have said there is much written on Charles Nathaniel Mills of St Mary's MD, and Iredell NC. Something has been irking me: He is mentioned as one of the original trustees of St Michael's evangelical Lutheran Church in Troutman, but I keep seeing it stated over and over that this Mills line was Episcopalian, and certainly there are only a very few records at the Lutheran church pertaining to Mills. Most of them must be over at the Episcopal church. But then why Charles as the first communicant? Here is the excerpt: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/nc/iredell/church/mikes.txt "The First Communion, this Fourth Sunday in August, 1815." Then, just beneath this, "August 27, 1815." Then following was a list of names beginning with Charles N. Mills and wife, Elizabeth. This list contained twenty names, the last being, "Peter, a black man." […] The fifth or sixth Communion was followed by the words, "at St. Michael's." The deed was given by Michael Walcher in September, 1823 to the trustees, Charles Mills, Martin Harkey, William Lippard, Jacob Troutman, and John Harkey, has in it the words, "on which the church now stands." Also: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/nc/iredell/church/mikes3.txt "Witnesseth that the said Michael Walkup for and in consideration of the reverence and esteem which he hath and beareth to the holy Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ hath given granted bargained & sold and by these presents doth give grant bargain & sell alien and confirm unto the said Martin Harker, Charles Mills, William Lippard, John Harkey and Jacob Troutman and their successive trustees in trust for the purpose therein after express All that piece or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Iredell on the road leading from Statesville to Shepperd's crossroads whereon the Meeting house or Church known by the name of Saint Michaels now stands " So, I am wondering if anyone has anything to contribute about the Mills religious leanings in Maryland before 1800, or whatever might be relevant.
