This is also posted in part on Judy ROSE's database on rootsweb.com I tried to do a search for MILLS and Campbell and it did not come up, but then realized I had the wrong state. Missouri is what it should have been. Pat cw They are showing a Charity MENDENHALL and John MILLS, with Peggy Campbell as the second wife. But there it says that Sally had died. How was it bigamous?

I know a fair amount about him. He met an untimely death in 1920 when his children were still young, and my branch of the family lost track of William's children completly many years ago. I would like to track William's descendents down if I can. As to the NJ connection, my working hypothesis is that my Mills branch came from Samuel, s.o. Richard, s.o. Samuel, s.o. Jonathan, s.o. George (Queens, NY), as recorded in the Mills & Kendall Family history that you are familiar with. I am certain that we go back to a Samuel Mills whose father was very likely named Richard. I have circumstantial evidence that he was the Richard mentioned above. Going back from this Richard, I am simply relying on Ms. Ullman's book. Besides his will abstract online, do you know anything else about this Richard Mills? If you want to email me, we can talk privately about the Mills DNA project.

Richard, Samuel, ? You were also looking for William of Chicago. Did you find which branch he descended? Just curious. Wanted to sort of put the 3 of them into the right line on my MISC MILLS file. Thank you pat cw Sorry, on the DNA info I gave you, it only lists the primary person's tree, and not al of them gave up the wives names. Kind of guide, actually. Unless you do a MILLS dna test.

As of now there are a kagillion Mills listed on census for 1870 and 1880. The 1800 IL census has a William A Mills with the right year of birth in Indiana (1856), living with a Joseph and Penelope Rouintree (spelling copied from census) in Franklin County, and listed as a Nephew. I found my G-Grandmother Connie and a William Mills in the 1900 and 1920 Franklin County IL census . I know it is them because of Aunt D. My Grandmother was born in 1882, the 1890 census is missing, and she was married 1n 1899 so I cannot connect her. I have not given up my search. Thanks to this board and the info passed on and the help given.
