    1. [MILLS] John Mills and Elizabeth Polhill
    2. Jackie Lock
    3. Hi everyone, I am trying to research the Mills family from Reading, Berkshire. George Mills was born in about 1849 in Reading Berkshire. He married in 1872 in Greenwich to Margaret Baker. If anyone is researching the same line, I would appreciate any information that anyone can give me. I have found a christening for a George Mills on 29 February 1856 to parents George and Ann. But am not positive that this is my correct George. I know that sometimes children are baptized at a much later stage after their birth, which could account for this George's christening in 1856. I am not sure where to look other than IGI and Freebmd for baptisms or births. If anyone knows of a site in Berkshire, I would appreciate being advised accordingly. Kind regards Jackie

Author: jmichae1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.mills/5614.1.2.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: We have the same names but the dates are not the same as my family has in our bloodline. In our family, John Mills had 3 daughters, Deloris, Mary and my grandmother, Amanda. He had 1 son, Brice, named after John's father. John was killed while his wife, Bitha was only 3 months preg with my grandmother. The 1900 census show's him, Bitha, Brice and his brother James living together. John;s Father Brice was shot and killed at a political event and died in 1887. John was born in 1882 so there could never be a census with the 2 of them on it. I got this information from my Aunt Virgie who resently did the research in Knox County a couple years ago. Clark Jr. was Brice's brother. Big Clark was their father, who was also the son of Nasby Mills. Big Clark had a whole lot of kids, his firth wife, Sarah, died giving birth to his son Alexandre. He remarried a year later and had alot more kids. So our line of mills goes like this: from Nasby Mills (1777-1865) Big Clark Mills (1817-1891) Brice Mills (1859-1887) John Mills (1882-1904) Amanda Mills (1904-1983) Helen Carnes (1938- ) Me (1958- ) I have heard my mother speak of a Post Mills. I think she may have been a great aunt to her. I'm not too sure. This is all quite interesting indeed. Michael Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: cnelson19691 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.mills/5614.1.2.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: That is really interesting because Nasby and Esther are in my line. In looking at what I see on the web, I see Nasby had Clark and Clark had Brice that died at age 28, but there is no son named John for Brice. I see also that Clark had a son named Clark but then there is no Brice. My line goes like this: Nasby Mills b. 1781, James Brice Mills, b. 11-3-1822 d. 10-8-1885, Thomas Jefferson Mills, b. 4-16-1862 d. 2-8-1933, then my grandmother Post Mills, b. 10-10-1901 d. 10-22-1990. Now because of the number of children and all of there names repeating, I do not have a whole of of info on their siblings. . Anyways, you should go to the reunion next year. I am sure there will be someone there that knows more than me. I havent research this line myself, all the stuff I have came from other's research. Then select the size map you wish to see it for viewing, 400 x 400 or whatever. Then hit the zoom selection. Then click on the map. Takes it down to where you can read each word, river, name, or whatever. Until you can do as the others have, and have it printed full size for wall mounting.
