    2. Forgot to say, NO did not find parents for Harris L MILLS. But did find several Harris MILLS and all born in Indiana. Nlot sure if right ones. Father born in MO and sigblings in Texas and other places, so all over the place. Did not wish to expend too much effort if it is the wrong family altogether??? Did save a couple views of their census pages, if you would me to email them to you??? Let me know. Pat cw In a message dated 10/9/2008 5:34:17 P.M. On the 1900 Census is a Martha E MILLS wife to Harris MILLS, her bd given was June 1857 then. She was age 42 married 20 years, etc. Does this sound like the right family that you were in search? Lists also give names of all MILLS in that cemetery. Click on each name, probably gives relationship. Otherwise, can always go to your nearest LDS Family History Library and check out the census for 1900 or 1880 for her. I find this family 1900 in Crowell Twp., Woods Co., OK. 1910 in Dane Twp., Major Co., OK; 1920 Newark Twp., Wilson Co., KS. Elinor died before 1930, but her husband is living in 1930 Wichita, Sedgwick Co., KS. Their children were Pearl, Anna and Linnie. 2- Nathaniel C. Herron b. 27 Feb 1869 KS. 3. Just noticed that there are several databases on rootsweb that has part and parcel of these families. Just not all the children are listed, and or the names are reversed, i.e. Pamela Elizabeth is listed as Elizabeth P and James G is alternately listed as James P with Elizabeth P ALDERSON. And there are several other unlinked MILLS - ALDERSON family members as well. I followed one line up several generations and found Jeremiah slightly misspelled too. So I thought I saw his name, as father to Pamela Elizabeth or Elizabeth P ALDERSON. pat cw In a message dated 10/05/08 20:37:04 Pacific Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: I'll have to look into this tomorrow. 1. Re: [MILLS] Ambrose Mills
    2. Best suggestion that I can now offer. Would be to get his military records from the National Archives. Possibly more records may be had from England records of the early colonists. Hanged for treason, etc. as Col Ambrose was done. For lack of anything there, check with the states of Maryland and Virginia. Very early records of both states. Who came when, where, how, etc. Those records must be well documented someplace. They have evaded me. Not for lack of trying, but my family MILLS was mostly of Ohio, at the time of my immediate research. So Virginia and Maryland, did not hold my attention for long. Very sad now, as I can see, Again HINDSIGHT, is coming back to bite me. Best to all of you. cw In a message dated 10/1/2008 8:39:54 A.M. Pacific Daylight Time, [email protected] writes: I've read tons of stuff on Col. Ambrose Mills trying to catch up with all you long time Mills researchers. I can't come up with any "facts" to satisfy me that he was the son of William Mills who died in Amherst County, Virginia. I know that man had a son Ambrose, but what makes that Ambrose, the same as Col. Ambrose Mills? Why couldn't William's son be the Ambrose Mills who shows up in Lunenburg County? Or was Col. Ambrose Mills in Lunenburg County before going to South Carolina? I've seen reports that Ambrose married in Maryland. William Mills was in Albemarle/Amherst County when his son Ambrose was of marrying age. I've seen reports that Col. Ambrose Mills had a sister who married a Watts. What ties Col. Ambrose Mills to the Watts woman, other than speculation? And who said Col. Ambrose Mills was born in England? Proof? There was a William Mills imported to the colonies in 1721. Couldn't he be the William Mills of Amherst County and not the father of Col. Ambrose? I doubt an indentured man would come to the colony with a small child. Any help would be appreciated.
