The Robert Mills in my line I think came from Ireland. His wife Mary Carleton did come from Ireland and sailed with her family about 1711. Her father died on the ship and was burried at sea. They were Quakers and lived in Chester Co Pa where Robert and Mary were married. Later moved to York Co Pa and descendents moved to Indiana and later Illinois in 1844 which is where I grew up. Although I know of some Mills families in the Carolinas, Tenn and Ga I have never been able to make a connection. I have been able to trace the Carleton line to England about 1590 but unable to locate any of Robert Mills ancestors. Do you have dates on any of the Mills line in your research? I suspect this is the family of my Elizabeth Mills who married Elisha C. Colbert. Could you tell me more. I believe Elizabeth's father was William, according to census information mid century, etc. This family, however, lived in Gallatin Co., IL, which was earlier part of KY, and when IL became a state in 1814 was split into other counties, among them Hardin, Gallatin, Pope, and White. With additional research, I am fairly sure the Elizabeth Mills who married into our Elisha Colbert family has a William Mills as father, and he was in Gallatin Co., IL, mid 1800's. She indicated, however, that her family lived two to three days journey from IL. What that means we don't know, but I have found Mills families in the upper regions of GA/Carolinas and lower TN areas. 1. [MILLS] Thomas MILLS
    2. Many of the list seem to have connections to a Thomas MILLS. His wife being a Mary. I am wondering if the Thomas MILLS, wife Mary PHILLIPS of PA and OH, and their children, also had a son THOMAS, I have no wife or children listed for him. It was said that a Mary DRENNAN MILLS went to Kentucky to sell lands and property owned by a family member, left to her. Lists that a John MILLS accompanied her there. He was made guardian to a Thomas MILLS Jr, son of Thomas MILLS, etc. as the story goes. Now, am curious if this may be THE Thomas MILLS that everyone has been trying to fit together into their family? Thomas MILLS apparently having a son Sanders MILLS, and his son James G MILLS, recently discussed on this list. Now, some or more than one, have done DNA testing, as well and results posted on the MILLS DNA Project web site. _www.familytreedna.com_ (http://www.familytreedna.com) under MILLS. Go to DNA Results page, lists those ancestor names, click on ancestor name lists pedigree as submitted by researcher/descendant for paper trail. Again, maybe all have figured it out, but I have not connected everyone as yet on my MISC MILLS and MILLS DNA file on my personal information on my computer. Again, just asking.
