I find this interesting. I have two Hiram Mills' in my family. Neither from NY or NJ...on that side the people from Scotland were Colliers and Davisons. Was Hiram a very popular name in the early 1800s. Or even the Mid 1880s. sally ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, December 17, 2008 7:28 PM Subject: Re: [MILLS] MILLS Deeds Essex and Somerset Counties NJ > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: justine2763 > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.mills/5662.3.1.2/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Lori, > Not duing well with writter name. > Your spelling of MacCormick is different than mine but it varies where > they may have come from. > My Hiram 1804 was born in NY but lived most of his life in NJ. Further to this family some have that Susanna MILLS who married Jonathan WINANS was their daughter. However, if she was born in Jamaica, LI NY, and her parents did not leave there, how did she wind up getting married to Jonathan WINANS who was born in New Jersey??? This couple also appear on _www.rootsweb.ancestry.com_ (http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com) on 38 data bases. Not all agree on who were her parents. Does any one out there in MILLS Land have CONCRETE documentation that she traveled to New Jersey and with what relatives??? Sally, May I please ask where your Mills-Hutchings connection lived? Anyone of those in Kansas? Frances **************Make your life easier with all your friends, email, and favorite sites in one place. Try it now. (http://www.aol.com/?optin=new-dp&icid=aolcom40vanity&ncid=emlcntaolcom00000010)
thank you Sally. I know that this happens all the time, but just never knew it was going to do to me. One just never knows. And in my moment of weakness, I accepted the offer of help, and just had no inkling at all that such would transpire. Really aprpeciate your kind words. Hi Jeanne A person named Joanne sent me this informatin in an email back in 2006. I believe I also read it somewhere on the net and or on microfilms at one time, way back when I began my quest for my family MILLS of Dayton, Montgomery Co. OH USA. At that time, I was would just seize any MILLS related items and made note of them. Put down their names in my spiral shorthand note book. Course now, all those are gone. My darling family members came in and "CLEANED" my apartment for me one weekend. They had volunteered to assist me, since I had had an auto accident, was in terrible pain and could not walk nor basically move as such. But when I got back home, I was just so over whelmed with all that had been TAKEN TO THE DUMP all the explanation I ever got from them. THEY decided what "THEY" thought" I should need to continue living on in my present apartment. Needless to say, I have extremely little to none further contact with him or his side of the family. I never have been so distraught in all my life. My heart was broken, and never will be mended. As side from that, that is where I found that information. Again, it was a long time ago, ca 1984 or so. Microfilms from the LDS Family History Library Center in West Los Angeles, CA. when I lived down there. So sad to lose ones basic life in so short a time. That is, genealogy life. Wish I could be more specific as to actual details, source references. All I have now, of course, is what was on a disk that miraculously did not get thrown out to the DUMP. Managed to get it to upload to my computer. Oh yes. That was the 2nd shoe that dropped. No one had any inkling that my hard drive would crash either. day after christmas following the CLEANING, it CROAKED. So had to wait for a replacement. And beg borrow or steal what I could for software to get it working again. Am still in the process of rebuilding my basic every day working MILLS file. Yes, they even through out all my software disks and floppies that were my backups. They had absolutely no idea nor what they were doing. Just pitched and tossed. Now it is all "Catch UP" type of thing I am trying to do now. Slowly but surely, I will try to post what little information I have gleaned over time, who I wrote to, who responded, when, where how, what, etc. and put it "Out There" once I get it in some semblance that makes sense to others. My family does not understand my drive nor energy I have put forth. They have never been interested, nor care. Thank the lord that back in January 2005, my brother did relent and gave up his DNA for me to get tested, otherwise, woudl not even have that to fall back on either. No, my Mills were from Maine and the Hutchings were from California. Well James was from England. Yosemite Valley. I think the closest to Kansas was David Collier Mills who was born in St. Louis, MO and his father James Elligood Mills worked as a geologist in that area in the mid 1880s. Wish I could help. Basically we are a eastie and westie coastie family. sally ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, December 14, 2008 1:40 PM Subject: Re: [MILLS] Mills-Ambrose Mills - Phalby Williams > Sally, > May I please ask where your Mills-Hutchings connection lived?
