It may be that the "new way of searching" at Ancestry is simply that they've switched you away from "Exact search" to their other method of searching. I've noticed a couple of times recently that when I open Ancestry and search, I get the other sorts of results, which I don't like either. When you go to Ancestry, look to see whether the little box titled "Exact matches only" is checked. It's located under the tab for "Historical Records." Hi Frances Now that is really very interesting. Again, we are being segregated even now on the Internet. Wonder if Mr. O has anything to do with it???? Yes, I broke down and got a subscription for myself this year for Christmas, only because they seem to have the census on line, and it is easy to access through them. GRANTED IT DOES TAKE TIME FOR THEM TO LOAD UP onto the my computer, but still easier for me, since I am basically HOUSE BOUND. With my knees, and health, and of course last 3 weeks of ICE AND SNOW, very HOUSE BOUND. SO GLAD TODAY, the SUN Actually shone, so bright, I was just reveling in it. Felt so terrific. Now the mid section and the eastern part of the United States is being blasted by the trememdous SNOW and ICE that we went through the end of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. Now all the flooding too. What a real last blast of weather for 2008. It would seem extremely ODD that ANCESTRY servers acknowledge INTERNET EXPLORER but not other servers, AOL, QWEST, etc. And not only just ANCESTRY but also RootsWeb site too. Just tried again, well about a half hour ago, and yes still cannot access rootsweb or ancestry through AOL service. That is, I have QWEST for my modem INTERNET PROVIDER and use AOL to go further. Then do have WINDOWS XP as my OS./ wonder if that has anything to do with it. Considering how big ANCESTRY is overall, you would think that they would get all the BUGS out of the their changes in the PROGRAMS before they implement them. Interesting. Also got an email from another fellow MILLS researcher, she was given that if you go through INTERNET EXPLORER can gain access. I just did that and yes, did get through. But NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT EITHER. Wonder what they problem is between AOL and or other service providers that ANCESTRY is blocking access of all those InterNET users????
