Does anyone know of a family of Millers from Germany who traveled up the Mississippi River about 1850 and then on to Ohio and points nearby? Was this a favored route for Germans? Is there any reading available about this route of migration? Any help greatly appreciated. Linda Miller Wilson
Hi Linda, I don't know if it was a favored route for Germans or not, but it was for the Irish. Of course, the Irish circumstances were a bit different (mid- Great Famine) than those of the Germans, but it at least shows the transportation routes existed and were in use.
