In 1900 the census of Bladon Springs, Choctaw County, Alabama, shows my Great-grandmother living with a son from her first marriage and my grandfather who was only 19. The Census states my Grandfather's father as being born in South Carolina. As far as I can tell the man crawled out from under a rock. I've heard of brick walls, but trying to discover him and where he came from is more like a "double brick wall."
