Posted on: Miller Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Miller/10809 Surname: Miller, Covert, Cathey ------------------------- Hi, I am looking for information on Millers who lived in the Paola, Osawatomie area of Miami County Ks. in the middle to late 1800's. Specifically Anson Miller b. 10 March 1810, and wife Mary, b. 17 May, 1816. Have found their grave sights in Ks. but am looking for info farther back from them. Info I have is that their son Andrew was born in Illinois and previous generation is from New York. No names available there. If anyone has info on this branch of the Millers I would appreciate hearing from you. E-mail at owings@ilinkusa.net
Linda: There are an awful lot of Millers out there, and so I can't imagine that my Millers have any connection to yours, but you never know until you ask. I do not find the name Anson in my Miller family as of this date, but like hundreds of other Millers, and other families, the migration pattern is similar. My earliest known Miller families were born between 1784 and 1790 in New York, and moved from New York to Clark County, Illinois. Many of my Miller ancestors were born in Clark County, Illinois in the 1820-1830 period and by the 1850 census had families of their own. There are about 20 Miller boys born in 1820-1860 period in my family in Clark County, Illinois and I only know about my great grandfather's family who moved to Kansas. I am sure that some of his brothers, and numerous cousins, left Illinois for Missouri and Kansas as well. My Miller family lived in Sedgwick, Pratt, and Kiowa county Kansas in the 1860-1900 period. Miami County may be too far away to believe the families may be connected, but I am not sure where all of my Miller descendants moved to. Perhaps you could put in more detail regarding names, dates, places so that we could all check our own records for a connection.
