The following was transcribed for the Bklyn Info Pages http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~blkyn/Bklyn.Info.Page.html Brooklyn Standard Union June 11, 1929 Graduations PACKER INSTITUTE CLASS OF FIFTY GETS DIPLOMAS; JAZZ EXTOLLED IN ESSAY    Packer Collegiate Institute officially closed its 1929 session with the awarding of diplomas to fifty members of the senior class in exercises held last night at the chapel of the institute, Joralemon and Clinton streets.    Jazz will not be appreciated by this generation, according to Miss Jeanette L. GEISMAR, reading her essay, “Jazz as an Expression of American Life.” “ Only in time to come will the beauty of jazz be fully known,” Miss GEISMAR continued. “The meaning of the word ‘jazz’ implies brevity, clashing and rhythm.
