The MILLER RECORDS ... were compiled by Florence Mims of Edgefield, SC ... That's where I photocopied them while in York County, SC. It is not a book ... just a typewritten manuscript. It starts with Charles Miller, Sr. saying that he was the earliest known member of the family in S.C. It has that the ancestor of the family landed in Boston and that the family went south to Lancaster SC by way of Maryland. Both Charles Miller, Sr. and his wife died about 1792 in SC. There is no mention of his parents or siblings. It is possible that some of the Millers who settled and stayed in the NC area could be related in some way or other. One of his sons, Charles Miller, Jr. was born in Massachusetts or possibly Maryland and he came to South Carolina with his father. He was living in 1766 in Anson Co. NC and in Lancaster Co. in 1772 when he received grants of land. But there is a letter written by Gov. Stephen D. Miller of Lancaster Co., SC (son of Charles Miller, Jr.) in this manuscript where he stated that both of his grandparents (paternal and maternal) settled in Lancaster Co., SC and were Presbyterians. Waxhaw was their church. They died when he was a small boy and he did not kow their given names or where they were born. He did know that his grandmother Lucas' family were first in Boston then went south - and some resided in New York. Gov. Miller's aunt was my Elizabeth Miller Webb ... and he stated that she died before he was born and was buried in Springs Cemetery, Fort Mill, SC. Gov. Stephen Decatur Miller b: 1788 - d: 1838 ...married twice: 1) Elizabeth Dick; 2) Mary Boykin.
