    1. [MLR] Introduction...change of list administrator
    2. Hello everyone- I'd like to introduce myself to the list. Your list admin, Penny Miller Romo, has asked me if I'd be willing to take over as admin for the MILLER list. I have accepted her kind offer. Penny has to give up the list due to health reasons but she remain on the list as a subscriber and will keep posting to the list when she can. I know we all would like to thank Penny for her years of service to this list as administrator and we look forward to Penny continuing on the list as a poster. I'm new to the MILLER list but have been serving as the administrator of the MILLER message board for several years. So I am not new to MILLER research. I have three separate MILLER lines in my own family tree, all in York County, PA--all of German/PA Dutch origin. I also admin or co-admin approximately 40 other RootsWeb mailing lists, many are small less active surname lists, but several are large and active lists. So, I'm not new to adminning a list. Penny has told me that you are a great group of researchers. I don't plan to change anything drastically as to the way the list functions. For the most part you won't even know I'm there UNLESS you need me for something. You can always contact the MILLER admin by writing to: [email protected] . My firm belief is that the list is here to serve YOUR needs--I'm just here to see that the list has a captain to steer the ship when needed. I've made two minor changes for now which you should know about, one you will notice right away and the other will probably not be noticeable to you at all. The one is that I've abbreviated the list name as prepended on each list message which used to be shown as [MILLER-L] so that it now reads: [MLR]. Hopefully, this will still enable you to recognize messages as coming from this list but will allow more space for the actual (hopefully informative) subject line to be displayed. If you are using the prepend to filter your mail--please make any changes needed to filter on the new shorter prepend. The second change is that I've decreased the allowable size for list messages from 50k to 30k as it will make it easier for some of you to receive messages without having them turned into attachments or rejected as being oversized. If anyone needs to send a message larger than 30k to the list hopefully they will be able to break it down into sections and send it through in parts. Thanks again to Penny for her past contributions and we look forward to having Penny continuing in her continuing capacity as a list subscriber. Joan Young, administrator [email protected]
