Finally, one I know something about. But as usual, I've already gotten an exciting charge from your post without you even knowing it. Presley K. MILLER married Elizabeth MOORE on 26 Feb 1846 in Cole Co., MO. Elizabeth is a daughter of John MOORE. He is a child of Thomas MILLER and Margaret KENNEY, who married in Cole Co., MO, on 25 Jun 1822. His father Thomas MILLER was b. circa 1792 in Greenbrier Co., VA(now WV) and d. after the 1850 census of Cole Co., MO. This Thomas Miller was the son of James MILLER and Elizabeth KINCAID (not Kingcard, although that is one of the "misspellings" I've seen before). He lived as a child in Campbell Co., TN ... also known as the Powell's Valley region. His mother Margaret KENNEY was the daughter of James KENNEY and Margaret COLLETT. This older couple were originally from Greene Co., TN, where they married 12 Apr 1791. They came very early into Cole Co., MO ... probably passing through the same Campbell Co., TN to judge by the company they kept. I've another generation or two in the Miller, Kincaid, and Collett familes ... for we share them all. I have a few interesting leads on the Kenneys as well, but no proof. Love to trade info. Leslie, Do you know anything about the Gouge family who also lived in Cole Co. MO at the same time as your Millers? Martin Gouge was married to Elizabeth McKinney who was b. about 1795 in Campbell Co. TN. She was the daughter of Henry McKinney, according to other researchers. One paper I saw from Cole Co. stated that Martin Gouge lived in Campbell Co. TN until 1818 when he moved to Cole Co. Other papers put him in Cole Co. a few years earlier. I thought with the similarities between the Kenney and McKinney names, and locations of Campbell Co. TN and Cole Co. MO, that you might have information on the Gouge family, too. My husband is a direct descendant of Martin Gouge and Elizabeth McKinney. Rick also has a Kinney line which interconnects with the Gouge line, and has a Miller connection, also. Martin Gouge's son, Martin, married Martha Hester Gray about 1855 and lived in Texas Co. MO in 1860 and 1870. Martha was the daughter of John George Gray and Nancy Y. McAliley. John Gray's parents were Robert Gray and Mary Kinney. John G. Gray was b. 1793 in Hopkinsville, Christian Co. KY. Robert Gray II was born in Sullivan Co. KY, and married 1781 in TN. All we have on Mary Kinney is that she was b. in TN, and likely d. in Christian Co. KY. Robert and Mary Gray's children, all b. in Christian Co. KY were: 1. Elizabeth Gray b. c. 1782; m. William Jones 2. Nancy b. ca 1783, m. Patterson Crockett 3. Wilson b. 1785 4. Jane b. 1787; m. John Smith 5. Mary b. 179 m. Edmonds Fruit 6. John G. m. Nancy McAliley 7. Sarah b. 1800 m. John A. Lop/Colp? m. 1818 in KY 8. infant 9. Robert b. 1804 m. Elizabeth Inglish 10. Daniel G. b. 1806 m. 1) Elizabeth Catherine Gallion 11. Nicholas b. 1809 m. Lucinda Miller, 4 Dec 1835 in Cole Co. MO 12. Hester Wilson m. Dennis Clifford Do you know anything about Lucinda Miller who married Nicholas Gray? Nicholas was sheriff of Cole Co. MO. Believe he moved to TX in 1847. Do you know where? Am happy to exchange info on these families.
