My mother's name was Marian Miller. Her parents were Albert "Peter" Miller and Lola Mykel Miller. Pete's father's name was Daniel Devinne Miller and his mother was Catherine Myer(s) Miller. Marian was born in Bemus Point, NY (Chautauqua County) in 1925. I don't have alot of detail on Pete's brothers, uncles, cousins, etc. but I do have some of their names. Most of my info is buried away in boxes and my computer recently "ate" a ton of files. I had PAF (Personal Ancestry File) document with over 200 names of direct ancestors and it left me with 29! Anyway, the story about "Indian John" Miller sounded interesting and I'm sure we've all probably got an ancestor named John Miller back there somewhere! Hello, My John MILLER has been my brick wall. I DO have a John MILLER born ab't 1775 in NY and lived in Bath, Steuben CO. NY. He was married to a Lena Van Benschoten (also found as Vanscoter) b. 2/1779 Port Jervis or Minisink, (Orange Co) NY. They married about 1800 and had at least two children. Marinda E. MILLER b. 10/2/1806 and Priscilla (also found as Zylpha) MILLER b. 1802) Marinda married a Clemons GRIFFITH in 1823 and they had nine children. Samuel Andrus GRIFFITH, which appears to be close to ANNAS is sound. John MILLER GRIFFITH, Spencer GRIFFITH,, Calvin GRIFFITH,, Mary GRIFFITH,, Marinda GRIFFITH,, Clemons George, Jr.GRIFFITH,, Charles GRIFFITH, Eleanor Nellie GRIFFITH. I suspect that this John MILLER's family came from Massachusetts (as the GRIFFITH family also came from MA) as I find this information which has a John MILLER with a spouse with the name of Zilpha and a mother whose name is Priscilla. It was very common to name the children after family members (parents/grandparents, etc.) However, I do not have proof that this is my John MILLER, but the names are the same and the birth years fit nicely. Name: John Miller Sex: M Birth: 24 JUL 1771 Father: John Miller b: 27 NOV 1737 Death: 1 DEC 1807 in Middleboro, Massachusetts Mother: Zilpah Tinkham b: 25 JUL 1737 d. Death: 26 NOV 1818 in Middleboro, Massachusetts Also: This John MILLER (b. Nov/27/1737) was married 30 OCT 1735 in Middleboro, Plymouth, Massachusetts to PRISCILLA BENNETT b. 21 AUG 1711 and died 07 OCT 1754. Priscilla's parents were Father: PETER BENNETT Mother: PRICILLA HOWLAND. Children of this John MILLER b. Nov. 27, 1737 and Zilpah Tinkham b: 25 JUL 1737 are: Hannah Miller b: 25 MAR 1765 Lydia Miller b: 2 JUN 1766 Abishai Miller b: 17 NOV 1767 Zilpha Miller b: 3 NOV 1769 John Miller b: 24 JUL 1771 Priscilla Miller b: 16 APR 1773 I believe this is my John MILLER b. July 24, 1771 which I have born about 1775, however I do not have proof or am not certain. It is the names that seem to make this connection and the ages. Zilpha or Zylpha is definitely an unusual name. Does anyone else on the MILLER list have these John MILLERs in their research? Thank you, Sharon >>> Hi, >>> I am trying to find any information on John (or Annas) Miller. I don't >>> know when he was born or died, or who he was married to.
