Hello fellow researchers, I am researching mine and my husband's families. My mother-in-law's mother was Flora Belle Miller. She was born 05/25/1882 or 1883 in Wise, VA. She was married three times. Her first husband was a William J. Johnson. Don't know when they married or what happened to him. Then she married James Monroe Minnix (my mother-in-law's father) on 11/23/1908 in Wise, VA. Her third husband we think she was married to twice. Once before James Minnix and then again after she divorced Mr. Minnix. His name was Elias Elkins. She died 09/08/1971 in FL. Flora Belle and James Monroe's children were as follows: Sylvan Percy Minnix, b.09/01/1910, Norton, VA Jessie Ray Minnix, b.04/24/1913, Norton, VA, d.02/14/1939, Dallas, TX Willard Odell Minnix, b.06/06/1916, Glamorgan, VA, d.04/30/1954, Lynchburg, VA Delmer Minnix, b.04/27/1919 Elmer Minnix, b. 04/27/1919 (Twins) Bonnie Pauline Minnix, b.05/17/1922, Norton, VA (my mother-in-law) Earl Plez Minnix, b.04/02/1924 Flora Belle's children by Elias Elkins: Ernie May Elkins, b.10/28/1899, Guest River, Wise County, VA Stella Maude Elkins, b.06/30/1900, Guest River, Wise County, VA Tilden Milford Elkins, b.06/30/1900, Guest River, Wise County, VA, d.06/06/1923. Flora Belle's parents were: Aaron Miller, b.abt 1856, Powell Valley, Lee County, VA and Martha Katherine Wells, b.abt 1858, Powell Valley, Lee County, VA. My mother-in-law also said that her grandmother (Martha Katherine Wells) was a full blood Cherokee and the indian name was Walthall(?spelling-sounds like).
