    2. The following was transcribed for the Bklyn Info Pages http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~blkyn/Bklyn.Info.Page.html GREENPOINT EMPLOYES' ASSOCIATION AND ITS ORGANIZER One of the largest employes' associations in Greepoint is the Faber Pencil Company Employes' Aid Society. Its object is to help members in case of sickness, defraying all the expenses of medical attendance and pharmacy bills. Meetings are held every two weeks in Germania Hall, and the members are given a chance to spend a social evening among themselves. On various evenings lectures are held, and several classes have been formed to discuss social and economic questions. Peter PETERS, the president of the association in speaking of the society, said: "In my opinion the society wields an inconceivable amount of good to the members, both in a social and literary way. At the meetings held in Germania Hall, books of fiction, science, and history are distributed and the members are afforded a good chance to educate themselves. A strong feeling of friendliness is developed among the members and they all work for the common good." Only those who are employed by the Faber Company are eligible to member- ship, and as soon as an employe severs his connection with the firm he leaves the society. The membership fee is ten cents per week -- within the reach of all. The recent report of the financial committee showed that the society was in good standing. On July 21 the society will hold a picnic at Washington Park. Frederick G. HUBER, through whose efforts the society was organized, will have charge of the arrangements, and he says that from present indications it promises to be a great success. The officers of the society are: Peter PETERS, president; Louis NELTZHAMMER, vice-president; J. R. FOSTER, secretary; Fred G. HUBER, financial secretary; Herman C. PEUTEK, recording secretary. On the Board of Trustees are Albert NIEMER, Miss Julia QUNINZER and Miss Mary KAVANAUGH. The membership includes Miss M. ARCHIBALD L. ARCHIBALD K. BLOM E. BERGEN, S. BYRNES A. BENNAN T. BEATY M.
