This will be a complicated story but I will try to simplify it as much as I can. I am searching for GEORGE M. MILLER. Here is some background info. The names (DILTS, MILLER, HESS) are intermingled: In the 1860 Census for North Towandie(?), Bradford Co., Pennsylvania DANIEL DILTS, 21, is listed as single and living with Jack Angle. In the 1870 (June 16) Census for Tioga Co., New York ( Waverly, election dist. #4 Barton) it lists: DANIEL DILTS, age 31, is married to MARY, age 31 and they have a son named GEORGE M. MILLER who was 11 (nearly 12) and born in Pennsylvania. I am trying to find out who GEORGE M. MILLER is because he is my ancestor and I had always been told he was adopted and came from a family with the last name of HESS. I am wondering if MARY, the wife of DANIEL DILTS, was first married to someone named MILLER and that GEORGE was adopted from the HESS family during that MILLER marriage. Mary's MILLER husband must have died or they divorced. Mary married DANIEL DILTS sometime around 1866 when GEORGE M. MILLER was about 9 yrs. old. They lived at Waverly, New York, and then moved to Anita, Cass Co., Iowa in 1876. By then GEORGE M. MILLER was called GEORGE DILTS. I don't know if he ever was adopted legally or not. The three of them are buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, Anita, Cass Co., Iowa. MARY B. I would like to know what MILLER Mary married and where they got GEORGE M. MILLER. Thank you, Dawn geodawn@inav.net
