Ellie, Do you think that the John Miller and wife Martha who were early in Pulaski and then Maries Counties was a son of Boyd? John b. VA ca 1780/82, Martha b. VA ca 1782, had multiple children per 1840 census, but unable to name but two daughters, Martha and Mahala, both b. in TN (all birthplaces per census). John died before the 1868 courthouse fire in Maries County so probate info is out - would like to know names of all children, but just unable to decipher which Millers are with which family in the Pulaski and Maries County areas. Hello Listers, I'm trying again to breakdown the brickwall of my MYRA (MIREA) MILLER born circa 1858 in Alabama. The 1880 Census record indicates that her father was from North Carolina and mother from Alabama. Family spoken history has it that MYRA was white, my lineage is African American. I have what it said to be a picture of Myra from the 1800's in an oval shaped wooden frame in very good condition. Of course the picture is not a snap shot but appears to be oil or pencil (not sure). It is very possible that MILLER was a previous married name rather than MYRA's maiden name. I am a descendant of her marriage to WILLIAM ANDERSON bn circa 1852 in Alabama. The children of this union are as follows (some information still to be verified): Susan bn 1876 Albert bn 1878 Emma bn Dec 1880 Esmes (Emmer) bn 1879 Francia bn 1882 Jim bn 1884 Anna bn 1888 William bn Mar 1880 Thomas bn 1893 Louella bn 1894 (My gr grandmother) Elbert bn 1897 Cresy bn 1899 It appears that WILLIAM ANDERSON was widowed per the 1910 Census, Talladega, Sliver Run, Alabama with the following children listed with him: Jim William Ellis Tresses Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to share this with anyone that you think might be of assistance. Hi Darrell, If you live near a national archives, then they offer free classes called "Brick Wall". The ones near me are held on a Thursday I think. Here is the website to see the map of where they are. http://www.archives.gov/locations/ They have other genealogy workshops as well. Some are on Saturdays too. take care, Jonathan Melusky

Mike, I have a Robert Miller, whose first son is George, first appearing in the 1850 census in Fulton, Schoharie Co. There's an older male in the family, Francis, possibly born in 1776. The state censuses identify Robert's birth county as Otsego, or one time as Oswego. It would be great to connect this family with yours. Well Ancestry.com has many listings for Thomas Miller, born New York, I stopped counting after 110 entries. Anything else you would like to share to help narrow the search. Did he remain in New York? do you have any ideas as to where else he might have lived? -----Original Message----- >From: Bill Miller <gbmiller@sbcglobal.net> >Sent: Mar 17, 2007 7:04 AM >To: miller@rootsweb.com >Subject: [Miller] Miller > >Have a Thomas Miller born in New York abt. 1830. Dear AT, my Daniel MILLER was married to a SARAH J. So far I'm not having much luck finding them in the census in any place before 1870. :) I don't see them matching up to yours in Ohio unfortunately.
