Looking for information on my husbands g-grandmother. Her name was Amanda Miller. We have very little information on her. She was born 4-13-1864 supposedly in Ill (per her death certificate). We do not have first names for her parents. Her father never came back for the Civil War and do not have anything on her mother except that her maiden name was PATCH. We know that she was working for her future husband's family when she was no more than 16 in the 1880 census. We do not know if her mother died, or remarried. We do not know if she had any siblings. Hello everyone! Am hoping that someone can help with a big question. We find that a Reverund Alexander Miller was pastoring a separatist Church in Voluntown, Mass. in 1736-37 of which John Gaston was made a freeman of the church. His son, also named John, married Ruth Miller the dtr of Rev. Alexander Miller. Thomas and William Miller were land owners in the mid 1700's in Mt. Bethel, North Hampton, PA. Thomas died intestate and his property was divided up, among others, his Galbraith grandchildren. His daughter Nancy Agnes Miller had married Alexander Galbraith. Alexander and Agnes Galbraith's eldest dtr, Isabell had married Joseph Gaston AND Alexander Galbraith and Agnes named one of their children Samuel Gaston Galbraith. Can ANYONE shed any light on the Miller/Gaston/Galbraith relationships? Greetings MILLER-L researchers, I have not posted the wall for one of my MILLER's So its a new year a comin' Hope some one can add or help with this MILLER line that has been a wall for over 90 + Yrs. now, as his granddaug Jessie Louisa {SMITH} VAN KLEECK b. 1886 MN. and her 2 daughters Garnet and Ruth making them both Jesse's R. MILLER's Gr-granddaug's and both 90+ now.. They have tried to find this MILLER line which happens to married a HUGHES HEWS HUGHS line then a SMITH line and all 3 surnames all to common making all disadvantages for ease of researching any of them. It would make a wonderful gift to these two young ladies to find their wall come tumbling down in 2001 as we cherish and bless every day we have with them both... And time is not on their side any longer since 100 is closer then 50... Any one that can help dig is some of these area I know they would appreciate it on a much grander scale then I could tell you in words.. So here the only bits we have to go on and hoping for any angels with a golden touch to help crack this wall... MILLER Jesse Reuben b. ca 1814 could be from Saratoga N.Y. this family unit isn't found on the 1850 MN. Census but is found on the 1860 US Census Fillmore Co. Minnesota Pg. 241 with records showing this.. MILLER Jesse R. age 40, Louisa HUGHES {HEWS HUGES} age 35, Daniel C. age 17, George W. age 15, Mary A. age 12, Sopronia age 10, Lydia age 5, she is our direct link and the age would be correct.. Emily age 1. Now there's a age gap of 5 yrs. between Sopronia and our link Lydia and some of the family think that Louisa may not have been a 1st marriage but this is just projections of some that say family lore was Louisa was a step-mother.. If anyone has access to this Census and could make a copy of this record I would appreciate it.. as its was found by our Garnet and Ruth's niece in N.D. where she lives. And I only have hand written notes by Garnet taken from a phone conversation with her niece that found the census record back in the 1970ish time frame. We also know that Jesse R. MILLER married Louisa HUGHES/HEWS/HUGHS in Angola Steuben Indiana 23 Jan. 1842 which we thinks blows the step-mother issue if Daniel is their child and is just 17 yrs. as they would have been married just short of twenty yrs in 1860 {as 1862 makes their 20 yrs. of marriage} Next we know that our direct line Lydia the 5yr old on the 1860 Census was born in Laenora Fillmore Co. MN. 20 Oct. 1854 and the Census was recorded prior to Oct. 20 1860 our Lydia is recorded with correct age of 5 yrs. Next we know that Lydia married Dec. 1874 in Redwing Goodhue MN. to James Henry SMITH b. 1845 NH. and our direct link is their Daug. Jessie Louisa SMITH b. 1886 Billingham MN. Now the SMITH family are found in N.D. and James is a blacksmith in the area of Mahull N.D.. and some of the family have his daily cash record or diary of what work was done by him.. and there's notes where Jesse James and the gang came in to have their horse's boarded and cared for by our James Henry SMITH as the town Blacksmith.. I think there are more then one of these entries found and I'm sure other now famous person came to our family Blacksmith business in N.D.. as I'm told many of the Mid West outlaws went north to run from the Law.. Well to make a better ending for my most wanted genealogy data.. our Jessie Louisa SMITH b. 1886 MN. married 1906 in Mahull N.D. which brings us to our current Ruth b. Idaho and Garnet b. N.D as they went to Idaho then came back to N.D. then when to Washington state where the 2 girls grew to women hood and Garnet went on to College in San Francisco with a scholarship offer in Music and has a Master degree in Music, as the family had many a fiddler's both sides of the families.. Well I was trying to make this as simple and short for ease of spotting the data for a connection but I see I have gotten carried away with my humor and clarification on my Wall of these MILLER but hoping some one will find a clue or have a bell go off with any suggestion and discussion a welcome thing for my puzzle with many pieces still in need of some ones fiddling with.. Hello.... I am new to the Miller research email list. I am looking for parents for one of my 3rd great grandmothers Nancy Miller Woodward b-1788, d-1877. I believe she was born in Essex Co. N.J., and was married in nov 1807 in Metuchen Twp. Middlesex co. N.J. to William Woodward, in her brother James Miller home..or possibly the reception was there. I think James was older, and there were two sisters as well. Thier names I am not excatly sure of, posssibly Ann and Sarah. Nancy died in 1877 I think in Cincinnati Ohio, or maybe in Indiana, or Illinois...not sure. I am hoping to connect with another one of Nancy Decendants, or one of her siblings.... (now Pickens Co.), SC, by at least 1790 when he was counted in the 1790 Census. He received a land grant on Rices Creek in the same area in 1792. I have records of other grants in 1771 & 1774, but need to prove that this is the same George MILLER. By the ages of his children, George was born abt 1740, place unknown [census reports confirm only that he was b. by 1755]. George was married to Mary UNKNOWN who could have been Indian/Native American. Their children were known to include the following (Are there others?): Isaac, Sr., md. Hester Elizabeth WEAVER; remained in Pickens Co. Micah/Michael, md. Margaret BOREN, moved to KY, then to Claiborne Parish, LA Morris, md. Catherine BOREN, moved to KY, then to Claiborne Parish, LA George, no info Jesse, appears to have moved back to SC from KY Jacob, md. Rhoda WIMBERLY, moved to KY, gave land for Green River Bapt. Adam, md. Betsy TAYLOR in KY Susannah, mentioned in father's will in KY, 1812 Ana, mentioned in father's will in KY, 1812 Agnes, no info There may have been other children, in particular, daughters named Mary, Isabella, or Barbara. The Rebecca WIMBERLY who married Jacob MILLER was a dau of Lewis WIMBERLY and his wf. Martha BARBEE. George MILLER, according to family as well as local Pickens Co. legend was a German soldier (Hessian?) who first came into the upstate of SC to assist in fighting the Indians. He was born by at least 1755 if you go by the fact the he was 45+ in 1800; son Isaac was born abt. 1765, so George was prob. born 1745 or earlier. George and his son Isaac, Sr., who remained in Pendleton Dist., were responsible for witnessing statements for many later Germans who came into the area in the late 1700s-early 1800s and applied for citizenship. This seems to point more to the fact that he was of German origin. The WIMBERLY family was in Bertie Co., NC bef. coming to SC and the BOREN family seems to have been in Surrey Co., NC and bef. that Halifax Co., VA. If anyone has any clue, ideas, proof about George MILLER's origins, I would love to hear from you. I have researched this family since I was a child and can provide you with any info that I have (which is an awful lot of "stuff"). I am very interested in whether or not George MILLER did come fr. Germany and wherever else he may have come from; I am also interested in his descendants. I have a great deal of info on the descendants of Isaac MILLER, Sr. (my line), but I have also managed to trace some of the other children with the assistance of others on the internet in the last few years. Hi everyone - I am new to the list so I thought I would post what I am working on. I am in search of information on my great grandmother and her ancestors. My great grandmother was Zidnia Miller - she went by Daisy. My grandparents marriage certificate shows Daisy married to William Frey. Daisy's death certificate says she was born 7 May 1876 in Pennsylvania and her parents were: Joseph Miller, born in Pennsylvania and ? (I cannot read the writing) Carpenter also born in Pennsylvania. Daisy then married William Diehl and she died in Baltimore, MD on 10 October 1930. Daisy had siblings of which I know nothing. Any help would be tremendously appreciated. Thank you!
