    2. Terrie Raymer
    3. Jim, I cannot begin to thank you enough for this information on Jacob G. Miller's children. I was not sure if Hiram was his son but I was exploring it as a possibility because I found my Hiram living next to Jacob and Susan in the 1850 census for Brothersvalley, Pa. I searched out more information on Jacob G. Miller but was only able to find his parents (Adam and Rosanna Kershner) and siblings listed in a pedigree file on www.familysearch.com When Steve contacted me with information, I was very interested in Jacob Jr's mother being Catherine Miller (b. 1753), dtr. of a Josiah Miller (died 1823)...especially since Adam Miller was born in 1750 and had a son Josiah Miller. I'm wondering if Catherine Miller-Weyand (b. 1751) and Adam Miller (b. 1750) are siblings and both children of Josiah Miller. Especially since, Catherine Miller-Weyand's son Jacob Weyand Jr. married Mary Polly Miller the dtr. of Adam Miller. I am going to search more on this theory. Do you have information on who Josiah's wife was or any other possible children? Your brother's source says that Adam came from Zwiburken, Bavaria, and settled in Hagerstown first. Another source found says that Adam was born May 14th, 1750, in Gerhardsbrunn, Pfalz, Bayern. and that he married Rosanna Kershner on Jan. 24th, 1780 in Amity Twp., Berks, Pa. or Hagertown, Md. Let me know what you find on Josiah and I'll keep you posted too. Looks like we are cousins working on the same tree limbs. 1. [MILLER-L] Re: MILLER
    2. Terrie Raymer
    3. Steve, Thank you for taking the time to share this with me...it is helping to piece together this Miller history which has been extremely difficult solve. I'm wonding if Josiah Miller (d. 1823) is a relative to Adam Miller...perhaps possibly a father to Adam Miller and Catherine Miller. It would not be uncommon in the Miller lines for cousins to marry...actually I'm finding it a little too often than I care to. I found a family pedigree on Adam and Rosanna Kershner/Kirshner Miller and their children as: 1. Mary Miller (1779, m. Jacob Weyman) 2. George Miller (1782-d. ? in S.C.) 3. Elizabeth Miller (1784-1870, m. John Alter) 4. Jacob G. Miller (1786-?, m. Susanna Zimmerman) 5. Rosanna Miller (1787-d.? in Ind.,m. Jacob Lichtenberger 6. Daniel J. Miller (1791-?) 7. Josiah Miller (1798-d.? in Medley, Pa., m. Elizabeth Kirshner) 8. Miseltha Miller (1805-? Sandusky, Ohio, m. Joseph Metzger) It said that Adam Miller was born May 14th, 1750, in Gerhardsbrunn, Pfalz, Bayern. I also found that Rosanna was born in Hagertown, Wash., Md. to George and Mary Flenner Kershner. She had atleast one brother George Kershner. Adam and Rosanna were living in Berlin, Bedford/Somerset Co., Pa. where most of their children were born. In the 1850 census for Brothersvalley, Somerset Co., Pa., is: 1. Jacob (63) and Susan (59) Miller, and Catherine Bill (17) 2. Hiram (32) and Anne M. (20 or 28) Miller and children: Anne M.L. (3), Sarah E.(1), and John(2 months). 3. Adam (?3) and son Jacob (?) Miller and Elizabeth Dickey (32) 4. John (45) and son Jacob (11) Zimmerman and Susanna Hickman (40) 5. Jacob (59) and Elizabeth (57) Mowery (with children: Jeremiah, Catherine, Wm., Rosanna, Elizabeth, Polly, and Josiah). 6. Michael (52) and Catherine (52) Zimmerman and children: John and Susanna and a Franklin Peterson. 7. John (40) and Elizabeth (37) Metzger and son George (14) 8. John (52) and Hannah (37) Olewine, plus a Mark Metzger (13) and Wm. Olewine (1) and Wm. Risto (25), Samuel Rhodes (30) and Jos. King (43) According to the estate settlement papers that I have for Wm. J. Olwine, Hirams children as well as Metzgers children were his nieces and nephews. I don't know how John and Hannah Wurtz Olewine's son is an uncle to Millers or Metzgers, but it can be noted that Miseltha Miller married Joseph Metzger, and Hiram Miller married Mariah Metzger and the Olewine home has a Mark Metzger living with them in the 1850 census. Its a puzzle I can't seem to put down. As you said, it looks like were cousins, maybe twiced over. Let me know if you find out anything new on this line or if anyonelse has other information to add.
