    3. If Alfred Miller was killed by Indians, it wasn't in Michigan City. They were all forced west in 1838. Hello, It was just brought to my attention that I forgot to mention another part of the story. Last year a researcher brought the above to my attention the same thing that another kind soul just did. The story about the indian's came from one relative and another more plausible one came from another member of the family. Alfred had gone to one of those wrestling matches where these traveling matches came to town. You know the ones where they take bets and ask for any takers. Well anyway he was suppose to have died in one of these matches. So really we have no proof as to how he died. Thanks Nora

    3. Hello Everyone, I have a little problem I am hoping that someone might recognize some names and help me with my road block. I had the following information that I thought was right: Alfred Miller b- m- d- 30 December, 1863 Michigan City, La Porte County, Indiana B- P- wife Elizabeth Barker (?) b- 14 August, 1810 Indiana d- 10 May, 1889 Jasper County, Iowa 79y 8m 27d B- Greencastle Cemetery, Jasper County, Iowa P- Children: George G. -m- Van Lue Ely b-1 August, 1835 in Ohio / Indiana 20 June, 1837 Indiana m- Elisha J. -m- Martha W. Murphy 18 April, 1846 Coschton County, Ohio / Indiana 19 January, 1850 near Shade Valley, Huntingdon County, Penn m- 3 May 1871 Michigan town, Clinton County, Indiana Others that may have been siblings but need to prove or disprove are; William B. Miller Clementina Miller Obediaha Miller Another puzzle in this tree is that on Elisha's obituary it lists Elisha's father as John W. Miller. So do I have the right children with Alfred or do these kids belong to John W. or are they even brother's but maybe cousins? The story goes that Alfred was killed by indians so George brought his mother and brother and family to Iowa. Would anyone have information on any of these people. Thanks Nora borts@iowatelecom.net

In 1900 the census of Bladon Springs, Choctaw County, Alabama, shows my Great-grandmother living with a son from her first marriage and my grandfather who was only 19. The Census states my Grandfather's father as being born in South Carolina. As far as I can tell the man crawled out from under a rock. I've heard of brick walls, but trying to discover him and where he came from is more like a "double brick wall." Pemelia 2/12 IL. THERE IS NO WIFE>but a 2 month old baby which means the wife was alive in 1850. I checked the 1850 Washington CO. Mortality Schedule. There is listed a MARY MILLER 33, died in April of Dropsy Frederick MILLER 6, died in April of croup. I believe these to to be mine. They would have fit into the 1850 census nicely. Also since the 9 year old was born in TN and the 7 year old in IL. I'm guessing they came to IL. about 1842. He marries Jane Ayres in 1852 1860 Wshington Co. Census Alexander 40 TN Farmer Jane T. 2. Hello, I am trying, so far with NO success, to find Jerry (Jeremiah) Miller, who was born about 1776. He lived in Elbert/Hart County, Georgia, at least part of his life, and had three daughter, Orpha, Sarah, and Prudence, who each married one of the sons of Elias Sanders: Jonathan P., Calvin P., and Lewis Manley Sanders, respectively. Jerry may have been in Virginia or SC before moving to Georgia. If anyone has any information about him, or knows of a Jerry/Jeremiah Miller who may be this one, I would greatly appreciate any information, clues, suggestions that you can offer! Thanks VERY much!
