Hello All, I would like to thank everyone for all the help you have given me. As I was saying in a past letter I have a second name for one of Jacob Miller's (possible) 17 children his name is Warren Miller probable year of birth is 1825, it just says 1825 doesn't say birth or death but I am guessing its birth. He was born in Canada Im guessing Markham also. Well, thank you & I hope to hear from everyone soon. Every one speaks of the brick wall, well all I definitely have one too. Mine starts in Markhan Upper Canada Ontario to be specific, That's where my G G G G grandfather Jacob Miller IM not sure of a year of birth somewhere around 1800. He had from what we have been told 17 children, one of those being Abel Miller born 1821 in Markhan Upper Canada Ontario. Abel Miller then in sometime came to Michigan Richfield township Genesse County to be exact. Abel Miller married Loretta Wixson in April 27, 1842. He died August 12, 1879. The Second child I have info on is Warren Miller probable year of birth is 1825, it just says 1825 doesn't say birth or death but I am guessing its birth yr. He was born in Canada Im guessing Markham also. This is the only Info I have on Warren Miller. Well, that should give you all a little info to go on, I have a lot more info past Abel if anyone would find it helpful. Thank You, Kevin Miller millerhk@aol.com

Pat, I too had notes on Robert Miller Snr for the same reason - I thought he might provide a link to my Alexander Miller b. Nor Ireland 1687 d. 1740 lost at sea off Wood Island, ME. My notes on Robert Miller Snr came from an Internet posting, perhaps from Chris Gaunt of the U of Michigan. The email provided was no longer active when I attempted to respond. The author stated: "Descendants of Robert Miller Snr (1707-1781). Several researchers came up with the name Thomas Miller as father of Robert Miller Snr. Robert Braxton Miller states that Robert Miller Snr was from Cases Parish, Fife Shire, Scotland - 'banished to the Plantation' in the Battle of Bothwell Bridge (8 miles SE of Glasgow, Scotland) on 22 Jun 1679. He was shipped from Leith on 15 Nov 1679 on the "Crown of London" which was wrecked off Deerness, Orkney Islands, killing 207 of the 257 prisioners. The survivors were shipped to Jamica as slaves, or escaped to Ulster, Ireland. The author states: "I have a hard time believing this theory". He also states " I have recently discovered a Thomas Miller in the "Collectors of Poll Tax" dated 1660 for the City and Company (County?) of Limerick, Ireland". Robert Miller Snr was born in 1707 in Ulster, Ireland. He died 18 Oct 1781 in Orange, VA. Stationed with his brother? John [as written by the author] at Millers Fort on the Jackson River, Augusta Co, VA 1756 - now in Bath Co, VA or Highland Co, VA. Hope this is of some help to others. One of the list members working on a Robert MILLER of Pendleton Dist SC may find this interesting. From MILLER FAMILY OF ORANGE COUNTY by Boyce Miller. "The late W.H. MILLER of Richmond, Kentucky, in his admirable work on the MILLER family entitled HISTORY and GENEALOGIES, states in error that Robert MILLER Jr.., enlisted in 1777 as a private soldier in Captain Nathan Reid's Company of the 14th Virginia Regiment, and that he re-enlisted for the duration of the was in 1778, again as a private. The above military record applies to another Robert MILLER from Pendleton District, South Carolina, whose record is on file in detail in the Veterans Administration, and the Pension Office in Washington, and a comparison of the two Robert MILLERS reveals that they could not possibly be one and the same person, as for example: Robert MILLER Jr. resided in Orange County VA., whereas the other resided in Pendleton District, SC; Robert MILLER JR. was born in 1734, whereas the War records show that Robert of SC was 63 years of age in 1820, and was therefore born about 1757; Robert MILLER Jr.'s wife was christened Margaret, whereas the wife of Robert of SC was named Annis; Robert MILLER Jr. was serving in the Orange Co Minute Men at the same times that Robert of SC was serving in the 14th Virginia Regiment; Robert of SC is mentioned as having a son named Squire who was 17 years of age in 1820, wheras Robert MILLER Jr. apparently had no son by that name; and, lastly, the records of Orange Co VA show conclusively that Robert MILLER Jr. died in 1806, whereas the records of the Pension Office show that Robert MILLER of SC was petitioning for a pension, and therefore still living, in the year 1820." Hello. I am seeking information on the family of Joseph & Wilhelmina (Minnie) Miller who were from Germany, perhaps Bayern, and who ended up in Louisville KY where they appear to have died between 1898-1900. I am descended from their daughter Anne Marie who married (1) George Hammer, and (2) William Snipp. I am descended from Pearl Snipp. According to various Louisville city directories, the Millers were in that city perhaps as early as 1870 or before. They spent much of their time in Louisville living on 24th Street. Joseph was variously described as a laborer and as a dairyman. According to Louisville Death Records, a Joseph Miller died on 22 Feb 1898 at the age of 74. A Minnie Miller died 14 Apr 1900 at 68. I am reasonably certain that these are my Millers because of the addresses given for them. However, I am less certain of their ages. I found in the 1870 KY census, in the 11th Ward in Louisville, a Joe Miller family. He is listed as age 50, a gardner, born in Bayern. His wife is named Mena, age 45, listed as a gardneress, born in Bayern. Three children as listed: Anna, age 15, born in KY; Charles, age 10, born in KY, and Louis, age 5, born in KY. The ages of Joe, Mena, and Anna are inconsistent with other information that I have. However, I tend to believe that this is my Miller family. The family is found again in the 1880 Louisville census. This time Joseph is listed as age 66, from Germany, occupation - keeps milk dairy. His wife, Minnie, is age 55, from Germany, keeps house. Two children are listed: Charles, age 21, born in TN, works on a farm; and Louis, age 15, born in KY. According to her death certificate and marriage record, Anne Marie Miller was born on 20 Jul 1859, and married George Hammer on 19 Jul 1876. Thus she would be out of the Miller household in 1880. On the downside, she would have been only 10-11 years old in 1870, not the 15 listed in the census. Anne has been reported to have been born in AL, TN, and KY in different records. What MAY have happened is that the Miller family arrived from Germany, made their way to Alabama, then moved northward through Tennessee into Kentucky where they settled in Louisville. I know nothing more about Joseph and Minnie Miller, nor more about their sons Charles and Louis. Since the ages of Charles and Louis appear consistent between the two censuses, I estimate that Charles was born about 1860, and that Louis was born about 1865. Corrections and additions are most welcome. Charlie Hartley
I'm looking for relatives Jacob Wise Miller who married Leah F Gauby. They had a child, Mary M. Miller who was born Jan 1873 in Ohio and died Jan 1, 1963 in Fredonia, Kansas. She was married to Henry C. Herb. I have NO other information. Thanks!
My great grandfather William Ansell George was born to Isaac George and Mary Funk George around 1869, in Jackson Twp, Vinton County, Ohio. He eventually married a Sarah Brown in 1898, who may have been the daughter of T.J. and Mary A. Brown of Falls Twp, Hocking County, Ohio. Mary Funk was born in 1839, probably in Falls Twp, Hocking County, Ohio. She may have been the child of Joseph Funk and Sarah Miller, who had married in Muskingham County, Ohio, in 1822. Isaac George had been widowed by Catharine Rose George earlier in the 1860's. They had resided in Perry County, Ohio during the 1840 census. They were married in Morgan County, Ohio in 1833. I'm trying to trace the Ansell family connection, assuming it's the maiden name of someone's mother(that is redundant, isn't it?). If something looks familiar, please e-mail me at msb@core.com, thanks, Mike Beckley
Looking for information on Phillip Miller born in early 1800's. He had two known dtrs., Sarah Columbia Miller (1857-1921) and Martha Miller. Sarah C. Miller married Alonzo H. Miller (3-Hiram, 2-Jacob G., 1-Adam Miller) in 1889 and resided in Fayette Co. with their four children (Anna Carolyn-1892, Mathilda-1894, Rosa Clarissa-1896, and Howard S. Miller-1896) and 2 children from Alonzo's first marriage (Albert G. and Elizabeth Miller-1884). Sarah also raised sister's child, Albert J. Taylor. Martha married Albert Taylor and had one known child from this union, Albert J. Taylor. This son was born in Maryland in 1885, resided in Brownsville,Pa., married Mary O'Brian and died in 1970. Martha's sister raised this child so Martha may have died at a young age. Phillip is listed as the father of Sarah C. Miller on her funeral records but no mother's name was mentioned. I would like to know if anyone recognizes this family or has in their Miller tree a Phillip Miller, born around the early 1800's, that possibly came from Maryland to Fayette Co., Pa. and has atleast two dtrs., Sarah (b. 1857) and Martha Miller. Any help would be appreciated greatly, Thanks Terrie _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com

A sincere THANK YOU to Bonedigger who answered my post of Sunday, March 4th. on this Miller family. I received a great number of clues as to where to look for further information. I will sort it all out and when and if I have a conclusion will post it to the list in order to share the information. Since I have TWO MILLER lines, I will post the other one separately. Thanks again, Sharron Redden, CA
