(Whose great idea was this, anyway?) I love it! I'd love to meet Marquis D. MILLER and find out why he covered his tracks so well! How is it that he came from the Onondaga Co, NY area to Fulton Co, IL and settled in the same, exact town as the "other" MILLER who arrived there at the same time? Oliver Evers MILLER, son of Hiram MILLER & Susanna OUDERKIRK, came from the Lysander area and settled in Fulton County around 1837. Yet, these families claim NOT to be related to each other. Very strange. So, I would ask Marquis, "Why were your parents in the Lake Champlain, NY area when you were born?" Was your father a soldier? Was he a Sutler? Why did you move to the Onondaga County, NY area? Were there other Miller relatives who had already moved there? What are your parent's names? Why were you still single at age 25? Why isn't there a deed, a will, or any primary data from NY with your name on it? How is it that you could read and write so well? Where were you educated? Why did you leave NY and head west by yourself? No one travelled alone in those days! Why did you travel alone? Are we related to the Ohio Millers? The Kentucky Millers? The Maryland Millers? How do you know your exact birth date? (23 Aug, 1810) Is there a church record somewhere? I would ask all these questions before we ordered; then;......... Judy Goodwin Third Great Grand Daughter M. Sandy DiLorenzo <rdilorenzo@sprynet.com I'm still searching for William MILLER married to Sarah Wilkens, living in or around Nevada, Missouri, in the 1850, when their two sons were born. James Thomas in 1854 and Jesse Clements in 1856.
Dear Fellow Miller researchers: I am still stuck at my brick wall. In the hopes that some one may have found something that connects with my family tree, here it is again. This is all I have and any new clues will be greatly appreciated. >From the Census of washington Twp., Tippecanoe Co, IN taken 10/2/1850, page 278: George Miller, age 45, farmer, value of r.e. $300, birthplace MD. Iowa George Miller 49 years old, farmer, birthplace Maryland, 11 people in house hold. My grandmother told me he spoke of Pennsylvania Dutch cooking, etc. Other names connected with Miller, McBride, Moore, Creek. Will be willing to share what little information that I have. I have more data on Abram Miller, my greatgrandfather, but I have not been able to find out where in Ohio his siblings were born which might give me something to reasearch to find George Miller and his wife Mary (McBride). It is possible that George and/or his family might have traveled along the "National Road" which went from Maryland to someplace in Indiana. If I could even find some ensus reports from Ohio in from about 1830 through 1845 it would sure help. George and Mary could have gotten married in PA before 1830. That is just a guess. Thanks so much for any little clue to help. MARY ROY WILSON maryroyw@earthlink.net > MARY ROY WILSON > > maryroyw@earthlink.net > >

The ancestor I would NEED to meet is my ggfather, Henry MILLER, since he would have most of the answers that I can`t find. He came from Germany, maybe Bavaria, to Bklyn, NY, and married Carolyn BAUER about 1870 or sooner. They had several children, Nettie, lena and Henry, my gfather, among others. My gfather married Barbara BLANKENMEYER and Lena married a SOFFEL. Barbara : )
Looking for information on any of these three kin folk; (1) Georgina WICKHAM, daughter of Thomas Augustus "Gus" WICKHAM and Joanna STUMP, born June 14, 1903 in Ontario. After the death of her mother she went to Flint, Michigan to live with her grandparents and when the grandmother died she was relocated to Cleveland, Ohio to live with Gus's sister Ethel "Nancy" [Wickham] MILLER as guardian. (2) Ethel WICKHAM, b 1885 in Ontario? died in Cleveland, OH in 1939 where she had lived for a long time, but she was burried in Chatham, Ontario. She may have gone by the name of Nancy. (3) Franklin J. MILLER, was Ethel's husband. He was likely born in Chatham, Ontario. He lived in Cleveland until his death in 1959. His body is interned in Chatham, Ontario. I do not know the Miller's marriage location or date or if they had any children. -- Regards, Brad Henderson, Dallas, TX e-mail = bhende19@airmail.net (there is a nineteen in both of these addresses) web genealogy = http://web2.airmail.net/bhende19/mastgene.htm Member OGS #20553, Halton-Peel, Huron #1222, Kent #1168, Lambton, Perth #895, Waterloo, Wellington --

GRANDMA MILLER Priscilla ESTES MILLER, who I knew for years as just Grandma MILLER. She was the daughter of Richard ESTES & Mary STONE of Lunenburg, Montgomery & Franklin Co's, VA & Madison Co., KY. Richard was the son of Elisha of Henry Co., VA. Mary STONE was the dtr/o Richard of Lunenburg Co., VA. She was born about 1770, captured by the Shawnee (Tecumseh's brother) in 1778, rescued 1786 in Michelimachinac, OH. Her half-brother Joshua TOWNSEND was in the rescue party & later recognized her. He brought her to Madison Co., KY where her siblings & their father were living. Her folks lived in what is now Giles Co., VA on Walker & Wolf Creeks on New River watershed near Pearisburg, VA. She was a hired girl for a neighbor, Moredock McKENZIE, at the time his home was raided & his 2 daughters taken captive. When they were rescued, the three were still in the same village rather than having been split up. We have as many versions of the capture & rescue as there were MILLER children, but they all contain similarities, plus it has been documented in quite a few books. The books do not give the human-interest stuff I'd like to know, so would like very much to have the chance to talk with her.. She m. 1788 in Madison Co., KY to Jacob "Grandpa" MILLER & they raised 11 children in Madison, Montgomery & Estill Co., KY. 1829 they moved to Fulton Co., Il where Grandpa MILLER died of a bleeding nose. Grandma MILLER lived to be 93, dying in 1863 probably in MO, KS or IA. Grandpa MILLER had grown up in Augusta, Greenbrier & Monroe Co's VA but was the Daniel Boone explorer type & went to KY in 1780's. He was a scout for Boone & was at the Fort at Boonesborough. He fought in the War of 1812 in the Battle of Raisen River & Tippecanoe. There is a MILLER Creek named for him near where he lived which is now in Lee Co., KY. She always said that she was treated quite well by the Indians. She had been adopted by a sub-chief's wife Karalo who protected her from Indians & whites alike. Some remember that she was treated like a princess. She learned herbal rememdies that she afterward would use for her children & grand- children. She would travel far, if one of hers needed care. About 1840, she rushed to the side of a daughter who was dying following childbirth, & she pulled her through with prayers & herb cures. I chose her, because I would enjoy hearing more about her life while in captivity & the learnings she received there. I am in to herbal rememdies, so would especially enjoy discussing that, plus what happened to her one daughter who I can't find. Donna

I'm trying to find out the ancestors of North Miller (my husband's gggrandfather). He was born July 3, 1816 in Susquehanna, Susquehanna Co., PA. He married Amanda Bell December 1, 1836 in New Providence, Hardin Co., Iowa. Amanda was also born in Susquehanna, PA. May 21, 1821. North Miller died Aug. 15, 1900 in New Providence, Iowa, and Amanda died Aug. 22, 1903 in New Providence, Iowa. They had 9 children that we know of: Helen, Owen(my husband's ggrandfather), Elias, Rosanna, Samuel C., Simeon, Horace, Ambrose, and Sarah. We found North and Amanda on the 1900 census taken shortly before he died, and his father was born in PA. and his mother was born in New Jersey. Amanda's father was born in PA. and her mother was born in Connecticut. If anyone can find info on what North's or Amanda's parents names were, we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. Doug and Carole Miller horse@triton.net.
