The following was transcribed for the Bklyn Info Pages http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~blkyn/Bklyn.Info.Page.html BROOKLYN BREVITIES PRIVACY DISTURBED Samuel MILLER, 24, of 1351 Forty-first street sought to defend himself when a woman came into his bedroom to collect a debt of $34 he owed on the purchase of a suit. This was the answer he gave to a disorderly conduct charge brought by Mrs. Becky PEARLMAN, of 1550 East Thirty-fourth street, in Fifth avenue court yesterday. The woman declared MILLER called her names and threw her downstairs. The man said he was angry because of the invasion of his privacy and that he ordered the woman to go. He was found guilty and fined $10 by Magistrate CURTIS with the alternative of a day in jail.

    3. Hi list, On the 1930 census for Summit County, Ohio I have a Benton Miller age 23, and states that he and his parents were born in Tenn. Also in the house as a head was Margaret Miller age 51 and she was born on Ohio. This most likely is his mother. She listed her father was born in Germany and mother in Ohio. Benton was married to Angeline (?) Miller age 24. They also say that they were married for only a year. Angeline listed her parents and herself all born in Alabama. These Millers, I'm researching for my grandson. Benton and Angeline Miller had two children that I know of.. Mildred Miller who married Edward Smart in 1954 Akron, Ohio, And Norbert Miller. Mildred Miller and Edward Smart had three kids, Edward, Greta and Wayne Smart. I married Edward Smart in 1973. We had a son and now I have two grand kids.. I do research on my family and my 7 year old grandson asked me, Meme, Why don't you know anything on Daddy's side? So I start here. I do remember being told that Benton was Indian. In Oct. 1971 Benton Miller shoot himself and wife Angeline Miller and granddaughter June Smart. This happened in Akron, Ohio. I use to have a clipping of it but over the years I've lost it. Can anyone help me with these people? Thanks Emma Price Ayles --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the mishap, when the train had passed over him, MILLER picked himself up and insisted on leaving for his home. MILLER, who is 24 years old and lives at 72 Varet street, attempted to board a motor train at Bay Nineteenth street and Bath avenue, going toward Coney Island and carrying the regular rush hour crowd. As the Russian reached out to grasp the hand rail of the first car, his foot slipped, and he fell. A portion of his trouser leg caught on the car. The train rounded the curve at Fifteenth avenue, and the people standing by gave a cry of horror as the body of the young man was thrown directly beneath the train. They held their breath, expecting to see the track covered with blood, and the mangled form of the Russian, but such was not the case. MILLER landed between the tracks and out of reach of the wheels. Ambulance Surgeon LIVINGSTON, of the Norwegian Hospital, was summoned and found that MILLER had sustained only a few bruises. The young man left for his home unassisted.

    1. [MILLER-L] 12 Family histories in 20th Century America
    2. I have purchased a book THREE GENERATIONS IN 20TH CENTURY AMERICA: Family, community, and Nation by Clark, Katzman, McKinzie, and Wilson. (John G. Clark, University of Kansas, David M. Katzman, U of Kansas, Richard D. McKinzie, U of Missouri-Kansas City, Theodore A. Wilson, U. of Kansas). This book gives family background for the 20th century (1900-1975) for the following families: The BUTLER family of Brookline, Massachusetts The GALE family of New Albany, Kansas The KURIHARAS of San Francisco, Fresno, and Dinuba, California The BRAUER family of Vanderburgh County, Indiana, Jacob REINHARDT The BASSANO family of New York City The O'REILLY family of Boston, Massachusetts The MILLER family of New York City and Providence, Rhode Island The MARKOVICH family of Midland, Pennsylvania Stanko SIMICH The WILLIAM brothers (James & Henry-children of former slaves) of Detroit, Michigan The TRACE family of Wayne county, Tennessee There are other names too numerous to mention that are related to the above families or were of historical significance in the time frame of 1900-1975. This book was written based on personal interviews with family members and gives a lot of history on each family often giving dates of birth, and following the movements of these families for three generations, often going back into the 1800s, often giving information on the immigration and economic situations of these families. There are lots of pictures. There is included a Genealogical and historical summary (chart) of family members. If these families are of interest to you, it would behoove you to check your local library for a copy or purchase a copy if it can be found. The ISBN is 0-256-020900-X. I found mine at my local library book sale. It is well worth the money, whatever the cost. For those who cannot find a copy, I will be happy to do look-ups as time allows. Bea
