He was a student of the Navy's Aviation Photographer's course at Pensacola FL in mid-1953 and, after graduation, was assigned as ship's company in the USS Valley Forge (CVS-45) out of Norfolk, VA, beginning about October 1953. He would have been born in the 1932-34 time frame. He was a red-head with LOTS of freckles. POLICEMEN ROUND UP LOT OF ALLEGED CRAP SHOOTERS There was a great showing of activity in South Brooklyn yesterday against gamblers. Policemen John MEYER and Benjamin LOEFFLER, of the Fifth avenue station, in plain clothes arrested seventeen men in a place said to be kept by Charles MILLER in Forty-eighth street, between Eighth and Ninth avenues. They found nine men shooting crap. With drawn revolvers they prevented the players from escaping. MILLER was arrested, and in the Butler street court to-day was held on the charge of keeping a gambling resort. The other prisoners were discharged. At Fourth avenue and Thirty-second street the same policemen rounded up Joseph WRIGLEY, of 178 Thirty-first street, and three others, and at Fifty-third street and Second avenue they arrested John MILLER, of 318 Fifty-sixth street, and three others. All were charged with shooting crap, but escaped with a reprimand to-day. Transcribed for the Brooklyn Info Pages by Marilynn Wright

Hi all. I am searching for information on this MILLER line: 1 John Lewis MILLER, Sr. b. in MA circa 1866 D. in St. Louis MO in 1855 + Minnie FLYNN all info unk 2 John Lewis MILLER, Jr. B. in 1885 in St. Louis, d. 1850 in St. Louis + Clara "Gibbie" REUBER 3 Madalin Marie MILLER + Harry Francis WAMHOFF 4 Mary Frances WAMHOFF + Emmett Terry HIGDON 5 Angela Rose HIGDON 3 Erma MILLER + unknown WARD 3 John Lewis MILLER III 2 William MILLER 2 Joseph MILLER + Clara STARR 2 Harry MILLER 2 Edwin MILLER All of the MILLERS have been in St. Louis, MO since at least 1885 to the present. John MILLER Sr. is listed as born in MA on every census I have seen him on but two, one says MO, and the other says Ireland, and even has a naturalization date, but I think his second wife supplied that info and it was wrong. Both of his parents were born in Ireland. Minnie FLYNN may have also been called Mary. I don't have much info on her. I think she and both of her parents were born in Ireland. When John Sr. died in 1855, three of his sons, John Jr., Harry, and Edwin were already dead. John Jr. died in 1950. I know Harry and Edwin were alive until ate least 1910, after that I do not know. The family lived on Miami and Angelrodt streets, among others, in St. Louis. John Jr. was a member of the Holy Trinity Church in St. Louis. Both John Lewis's and both Clara's (weird, huh) were buried in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in St. Louis.
