IS YOUR FAMILY'S NAME ON THE WALL OF HONOR? ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] Within sight of the majestic Statue of Liberty, on historic Ellis Island, stands this nation's greatest monument to the American Family. It is The American Immigrant Wall of Honor®, and today I invite you to place a name on the Wall of Honor, to stand for future generations as a unique testament honoring your family, your love of family, and the future generations of family who will truly -- and forever -- appreciate your tribute. Visit our website at http://www.wallofhonor.com and add the name of your choice to the more than 600,000 names already inscribed on the Wall, the largest wall of names in the world! THIS IS A GREAT GIFT IDEA FOR BIRTHDAYS, ANNIVERSARIES, FAMILY REUNIONS, AND ESPECIALLY THE HOLIDAY SEASON! Due to the tremendous response, registration for the New Phase of the Wall of Honor has been extended to September 30, 2003! But act today to ensure that your family name will be inscribed on the Wall by the end of 2003. Place a name on the Wall and receive an official Certificate of Registration, suitable for framing for your family's home, commemorating this historic placement on the Wall (see a copy of a Certificate below). The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation created the Wall of Honor in order to give Americans a chance to link their families to the single place most often associated with our immigrant heritage: Ellis Island, a national monument and a jewel in America's cultural and historical crown. But the Wall is not a relic of a bygone era. It is testament to the dynamic fabric that every generation of America's families weaves into our national mosaic. And the Wall will forever be with us, at a National Monument that is an inspiration to us all. Perhaps you have already been searching for one of your ancestors when you visited our sister website, Ellis Island Online, where you may have found an incredible piece of your family's history. Take the next step today in honoring your heritage by registering your family name or the name of the ancestor you found at Ellis Island Online, on The American Immigrant Wall Of Honor at Ellis Island and on the Virtual Wall Visit http://www.wallofhonor.com today to find out if your family name is already on the Wall, or to apply now for your own place on this historic treasury commemorating love of family and gratitude for what America means to all of us. Let me remind you that the person you honor need not have arrived in America at Ellis Island. In fact, you may pay tribute to someone who has just become a citizen, or even inscribe your own name or your family name simply to say "thank you" to an America that has been good to you. The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in 1982 to raise funds for the restoration and preservation of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Working in partnership with the National Park Service, the Foundation has achieved a remarkable record of success in all of its projects, and for two decades has accomplished all of its goals while receiving no funding from the government. _________________________________________________________________ Get MSN 8 and help protect your children with advanced parental controls. http://join.msn.com/?page=features/parental
I am looking for any information on a Henry Meyer. He was the son of Caroline (Carrie) Meyer Fees. We don't have any information on his father but believe he was illegitimate born in Bavaria Germany. He came to the United States in 1891 or 1892 as a very young child. It is believed he came here with his mother, grandfather (Heinrich Meyer) and his grandmother (Caroline Lacy Meyer). They settled in Aurora, Illinois. ( I am not sure they went directly to Aurora but that is where I was told they lived). His mother married Michael Fees on March 24, 1892 in Aurora Illinois (Kane County). Michael Fees was a farmer in Oswego Illinois and had come to the U.S. in 1887 on the Saale from Germany. (I would also like any info on the Fees family too.) I believe his parents names are Andrew and Fredricka Fees. They lived in Waldeck, Germany. Michael also had 2 sisters that also settled in Oswego by the names of Freterita Fees who married John Hoch on February 10, 1891 and Minnie Fees who married Charles Miller on September 6, 1891. On the 1900 Census it shows Michael (head) born October 1858 and age 43. Caroline (wife) born February 1862 and age 39. Henry (son) born May 1889 and age 11. Michael and Caroline went on to have 2 sons named Otto (he is my great grandfather) and Alfred. They are listed on 1900 census as Otto born on Jan. 29 and age 7. Alfred born on Nov.29 and age 3. Michael and Caroline married 8 years. I never found out what happened to Caroline's parents. Michael and Caroline moved to Hanover township Illinois with Otto and Alfred but I am not sure when. Henry stayed on in Oswego. He is listed on the 1920 census as head and age 30. Anna (wife) age 28. Caroline (daughter) age 5, Francis (daughter) age 3, Margaret (daughter) age 1. On the 1930 census for Oswego Township, Kendall County (image 13) Henry (head) age 40. Anna (wife) age 39, Caroline (daughter) age 14, Frances (daughter) age 12, Margaret (daughter) age 10, Ruth (daughter) age 8, Henry (son) age 6, Betty Jane (daughter) age 2, and Robert Donald (son) age 1 month. Henry is a farmer. Any information on Henry's wife or children would also be of great interest to me. I would be interested in hearing anything about the people I have mentioned. Thank you for your time. Kim Nelson Elgin, Illinois [email protected] or [email protected] Please post query on the internet. Thank you.
I am trying to find Miller's in the North Georgia area! I would like to see if anyone out there is looking for any of our Miller's My G-Great-grandfather William Miller was born 1824 he was married to Catherine Watts. This is as far back as we can get.. I would love to here from anyone with the same connection look below and see if any of these are any of yours and if so please get in touch with us at ([email protected]) (We believe that William father might be Abraham and they might have been from Jackson County Ga This has not been proven as of yet!!). Descendants of William Miller Generation No. 1 1. WILLIAM MILLER was born May 23, 1824 in GA, and died February 17, 1907 in Bur. Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cem., Lumpkin Co., GA. He married (1) CATHERINE A. WATTS June 10, 1845 in GA. She was born November 23, 1827 in GA, and died July 07, 1888 in Bur. Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cem., Lumpkin Co., GA. He married (2) MARY SELF December 06, 1892 in Lumpkin Co., GA. She was born March 1865, and died in Hall Co., GA. Notes for WILLIAM MILLER: According to the census records William Miller was born in GA. William was a farmer and it appears he spent most of his life in Lumpkin Co., GA. He served during the Civil War, commissioned as a Captain 12 October 1861, 1116th District, Lumpkin Co., Georgia Militia. Little other information is known of William. According to information contained in a letter dated 16 February 1971 written by Elsie Miller Allen (she was a great-granddaughter] to Hattie Pruitt Merrick [a great-granddaughter who was researching the Miller family], Elsie states that her father William Cicero "always told us the Millers were of Irish descent - thus the red hair and complexion." In another letter dated 20 Jan. 1971 Elsie writes Hattie: "Hey Hattie, I have just found a small piece of paper in Daddy's (William Cicero] old Bible with the birth and death dates of: William Miller, Sr., b. 23 May 1824; d. 17 Feb. 1907 Catie Miller, no birth date; died 7 July 1888; age stated as 63 years Sarah M. Miller [wife of Newton Miller], b. 2 Jan. 1852, d. 13 Sept. 1893 and this is written in Daddy's handwriting." She further states "from a type written page glued to the inside of Daddy's Bible is the record of his family [brothers & sisters]." It was written in Cleveland, GA on 23 Jan. 1920 and gave the names and birth dates of the children of Newton V. Miller. Federal Census 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900 "Lumpkin County, Georgia", by Andrew W. Cain Information compiled by Hattie Pruitt Merrick, daughter of Rev. Willis S. Pruitt, including some of her correspondence with Elsie Miller Allen, daughter of William Cicero Miller. After her death, her research information went to her sister, Clara Pruitt Burress Information from Cynthia Renee Miller McIntosh, great, great granddaughter of William & Catherine Miller Tombstone records, Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, Lumpkin Co., GA 1884 Bible believed to have belonged to George Miller Lumpkin County, GA records Information submitted by Robbie Miller Wilkins to "Heritage of Lumpkin Co. GA - 1832-1996" Notes for CATHERINE A. WATTS: There is no information on Catherine Watts. The names of her parents are not known at this writing. There were Watts listed in the census of Lumpkin Co., GA and it appears that David Watts may have been her father, but there is no proof yet that this is true. According to oral information passed along, the Watts family may have been part Indian. This information has not been proved either. But from the one known picture of Catherine she certainly has the characteristics - straight hair and the high cheek bones. Uncle Tom left home when a young man and 34 years later he came to our door asking for a place to spend the night. We were getting ready to go to revival service, Uncle Steve was pastor and was preaching and staying at our house. Well all this time each was learning who we were then this tall well dressed man said "I am your Uncle Tom who has been gone 34 years", he visited for a few weeks with his relatives and disappeared again and we never heard from him again and if I remember right he never told anyone where he was living or where he had been those 34 years." xi. I have found a new lead on my Miller research, and I am trying to trace it down. My cousin had a copy of a photo of Henry Philip Miller (1844 to 1916), one of the GA Hussars. This was in some things of her parents. She and I descend from Andrew J. Miller who used to own the furniture on Broughton St. We have had no luck in locating his parents. He was born in PA and moved to Savannah abt 1850. His brother, Samuel also moved to Savannah abt 1847, and lived in Thunderbolt. I looked up Henry P. Miller in the IGI and gound that he was the son of Jacob and Caroline Miller. I think Jacob may be buried in Bonaventure, very near the Samuel Miller plot. Henry died in Baldwin Co. on Feb 16, 1916. Can anyone on the list tell me anything about Henry and his family: Husband Jacob Miller Pedigree Birth: 1791 Savannah, Chatham, Georgia Christening: Marriage: Death: Burial: ------------------------------------------------------------------------Wife Caroline Pedigree Birth: 1810 Savannah, Chatham, Georgia Christening: Marriage: Death: Burial: ------------------------------------------------------------------------Childr en ------------------------------------------------------------------------1.
