    3. Hello Gerald ...... I have researched my Miller's both in KY and IL for 16 years so I know what you're going through. I have looked through my books for a good library or Historical Society in Wayne County but there doesen't seem to be one, so you might start here: IL. State Historical Society - Old Capital Building - Springfield, IL.62701. You must send a SASE to get a reply to questions, but I would call them at 217/782-4836 - ask for the genealogy dept. They are very friendly and helpful. Also, one of the state's universities is in Carbondale,IL, not too far from Wayne County, and they have one of the best genealogy libraries in the country Let me know how you make out. Good luck Regards, Larry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gerald Brinkley" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, January 19, 2004 3:39 PM Subject: [MILLER-L] William Miller > Can anyone help me with these Millers John Miller on this cenus was my G Grandfather he moved to TX about 1860 Back to IL 1870 back to TX 1880 I have a lot of info. on him none on his parents & sibblings. > > Thanks Gerald > > YR: 1850 STATE: Illinois COUNTY: Wayne > > 24 311 317 Miller William 63 M Farmer Tennessee > > 25 311 317 Miller Sarah 52 F Tennessee > > 26 311 317 Miller N 42 M Tennessee > > 27 311 317 Miller M. 26 F Tennessee > > 28 311 317 Miller H 20 F Illinois > > 29 311 317 Miller John 18 M Illinois (My G Grandfather) > > 30 311 317 Miller David 16 M Illinois > > 31 311 317 Miller Rhoda 13 F Illinois > > 32 311 317 Miller E 7 M Illinois > > 33 311 317 Miller F 4 M Illinois > >

    1. [MILLER-L] Dr. Ray Miller
    2. I have some great pictures of Dr. Ray Miller who was/is I believe from the Philadelphia area. He was my Mom's boyfriend during WWII (early 1940s) and I would like to pass along these photos to anyone who has him in their family line. He looked a lot like a handsome Bob Hope! 8-) According to my Mom I believe he was a doctor by trade. They almost married but didn't. I'll explain that to anyone who might want to know. Hope to hear from a relative. They really are good photos!! Barbara Davidson Norkus Searching for that needle in a haystack ....

    3. Forgot to do Reply ALL to Charles' note, so this missed the list... Any help will be appreciated...Karen ============================================= Charles, thanks for the generous offer. Can you shed any light on the Gottlieb Miller family? Gottlieb was born July 17, 1843 in Bern, Switzerland and married Mary Ann Zumbach in Tuscarawas County, Ohio in 1866. Their children (Gottlieb, Godfrey, Frederick, John, Roseann, Mary, Charles, Frank, Elizabeth) were born in Ohio, then the family moved to Andrew County, Missouri. Gottlieb died July 3, 1928 and Mary Ann died March 3, 1931. They are both buried in the church yard cemetery of St. John's Church in Amazonia, MO. I have quite a bit of information on the Zumbach family, clear back to Bern, Switzerland, but I have no information on Gottlieb's parents or siblings. Gottlieb and Mary Ann's son, Frederick, was my great-grandfather and I have the full line going forward from him and pieces of information on the other siblings' lines that I would be glad to share. Thank you for any information you can provide. 1. [MILLER-L] Harrisburg & York, PA, Miller
    2. We have hit an extremely thick brick wall. My husband's father, Robert Edward Miller, was born in Harrisburg, PA, on December 4, 1900, and died in 1983, in Norwich, CT. In the 1970s, he verbally told me that his father's name was Robert Hansen/Hanson Miller and that he was from Harrisburg. His mother was Margaret Kirkpatrick, and she was from the Albany, NY, area. They died when he was young. There were no siblings (as far as we know). When he enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1922, he listed his residence as being in York, PA. The next of kin was an uncle, Robert J. Freysinger (Frysinger/Friesinger), who also lived in York. We have his military records (Marines and Navy) and Social Security application, but have not been able to find any birth record or locate him in census records. Also, we can find no records of Robert Hansen and Margaret Miller. We cannot get passed 1900 or prove his parentage. If anyone on the list recognizes any of the names, we would appreciate a response. If you have any suggestions, they would also be welcome.

    1. [MILLER-L] German Miller line
    2. My Miller line is from the Zell/Weyerbach area of Baden, Germany. This is near Offenburg. They immigrated from the Alsace area of France, which then belonged to Germany, about 1846 landing in New Orleans. The parents of the family were Ignatz and Keorlina Keiffer Muller/Mueller/Miller. They took a steamboat up the Mississippi to Cincinnati, OH, where they joined the St. James, White Oak, Catholic Church. Ignatz is buried there having died about 1850. Their children were Maxmillian, Anslem, Sylvester, Benedick who is my line, Caroline, Franceska/Francis, Phillipi, Valentine, Victoria, Maria, and Cauldit. After the death of Ignatz, the family moved to Tiffin, Seneca County, OH. Caroline and Victoria married Harter brothers also from the Zell/Weyerbach area of Germany. The Harter line was connected with the St. James church as well. Francis married a Folzenlogen. Keorlina is buried in Tiffin as is Anselm. Benedick's line is still connected through a family farming business, but I would love to connect with other members of the family. Linda Miller Wilson
