Charles, Thanks for all your help and hard work! I'm looking for information regarding the parents of Josiah Cooper Miller, who was born around 1857 in Indiana. According to the 1920 Census, he was divorced and living with his son, Cooper J and daughter, Josephine. I think his ex-wife and the mother of these children was Florence Tilford (not sure about the spelling). Divorce was rare in those days and I wonder what happened. According to the census data, Josiah Cooper Miller was born in Indiana. His father was born in PA and is mother was born in OH. Josiah Cooper Miller had a brother named William, who was born around 1844. They both ended up in Kansas where Josiah Cooper Miller was a farm laborer on William's farm (info from addition Census data). Josiah Cooper Miller's son, also named Josiah Cooper Miller (but both seem to have been called Cooper) was born in 1902 in Colby, KS and married Iris Kinkade who was also from KS. They later moved to St. Louis, MO where they had my grandfather Jack Charles Miller in 1930. Jack married Dorthie Maxine Tincknell and had 12 children but he died in 1960. Ultimately, I'm looking for any additional information on the first Josiah Cooper Miller as this is as far back as I can trace my heritage. If you are looking for the Millers that came from Inchinnan, Renfrew, Scotland and settled in Ryegate, Caledonia Co. Vermont there is an excellent book, "History of Ryegate Vermont" published in 1913, author, Edward Miller, and has lots of Millers and the related families. It starts with Alexander Miller, born in Scotland in 1759 and married to Jean Allen, also born in Scotland in 1760. I ordered mine from Higginson Book Co., in Salem, Massachusetts. It was 68 bucks at the time. Roger K. Miller [email protected] Others work from sun to sun, but a genealogist's work in never done. In God We Trust

Having two seperate Miller lines that I am researching I have always been interested in seeing this site but unfortunately it will not ever work for me. I can get to the page where you can choose a state but then whenever I try to click either to go to a state or even search it just keeps reloading that same page that I'm already on. And then I have a heck of a time getting the site to close.....I tried again just now and had to click about 50 times to get it to close, because everytime I even click on the X it just starts reloading that same page. ....sigh...... Pati, if you're using a Popup Blocker, that may be the source of your problem. I couldn't get anywhere with the site until I turned my Popup Blocker off. It's a great site, so well worth working through the problems...;-)...Karen Miller ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, January 22, 2004 8:50 AM Subject: Re: [MILLER-L] Clovis Miller Website > Having two seperate Miller lines that I am researching I have always been > interested in seeing this site but unfortunately it will not ever work for me. Hello list, The other day I posted an article from my relation, Gary Chambers, on the internet and we have discovered it is copyrighted. Hi Charles, If there's a problem check out: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/m/miller.html and browse the archives so you can catch up. Also in case you're bouncing etc check out: http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ It will tell you which lists you are subscribed to. Anyone should do this if they are suddenly not receiving mail from a busy list . Also check out the yellow box at: http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/ That box tells you which domains are rejecting RootsWeb mail and also will tell us if a server is down. Also I saw a call to our admin/owner from someone. You can reach our admin by writing: [email protected] Any list admin by writing: [email protected] If you think you are missing mail I'd first check first the list archives, then the yellow box, then password central. If things look off for you still with no answers write the admin and ask if any bounces are coming thru for you. Some of us save bounces some do not. But if someone contacts me I keep an eye out for them. I admin 40 lists here at RootsWeb and this is my advice. The Miller list owner is Penny Miller (Romilly-do I have that right?) My grandparents were Andrew Hepburn Miller born about 1875/6 married 23 Jul 1897 to Helen Dryburgh born 2 May 1876. These events happened in Fife, Scotland. I have these numbers from a copy of their marriage certificate given to me by my mother Grace Dryburgh Bennett (nee Miller) born 28 Jan 1909. Siblings: Mathew, William born 11 Jan 1904, Helen, Margaret, Elizabeth. Andrew died 21 Dec 1911, Widow and children migrated to Victoria, Australia from Kirkcaldy in Fife on the TS Balranald in 1925. Charles i am a decendant of Charles Jr .. that she is taliking of Charles Sr was born appx. 1710 in Ulster Providence Ireland and came to America before or around 1740. i do have some info on the church Old Waxhaw Presbyterian Church (circa 1750--shown below), which is located in what is now Andrew Jackson State Park in Lancaster County, SC. According to a letter from Charles' grandson Stephen Decatur Miller dated 1835, this is where Chales Miller and Priscilla Lucas Miller attended church. Originally built in about 1750, it was burned during the Revolution by Bloody Ban Tarleton (Col. Banastre Tarleton of the Green Dragoons--light Cavalry) because it was being used as a meeting place and hospital for the local Militia in the Waxhaws. It, of course, was subsequently rebuilt. Wonder if Charles and Pricsilla are buried there.... By the way, Andrew Jackson was from the Waxhaw Settlement of this same period and attended this same church. donna
I really would like to find out something about my Miller line. I know a lot about Lucinda and their children but nothing on Peter. I have not found him in any census and have only found the marriage license and his name was on some land papers in Saline County, MO. That is it.
