I am assuming those years listed at "1900's" are really 1800's, but am confused with some of the abbreviations and groups of numbers/letters. Shirley, I did find Daniel & Nancy in the 1880 census for Oswego Co, NY There is also a Delavan living with them which is their son. D. C. MILLER 57, farmer, keeps house, born NY, parents born NY Nancy 57, wife, keeps house, born NY, parents born NY Delevan 21, son, farmer, born NY also living with them is a boarder with the name Sparrowhawk Minnie 22, school teacher, born NY, parents born NY I also did find the Delavan which you have in the 1880 census which I thought was yours, but your Delavan is still single and living with Daniel & Nancy. Most likely the other Delavan is related, possibly a cousin to your Delavan. (The name is too unusual...not to be related.) My guess is Daniel's brother also had a son named Delavan which is the one living with Ella/Ellen & son Jacob in the 1870 & 1880 census. My John Jacob Miller is still my puzzle--my German-born ggggrandfather. Family lore says he was a Hessian soldier who remained in this country after the Revolution, settling in the part of Virginia which later became Scott County. At least that is where his son Jacob was born in 1795. The old John Jacob, with Jacob's young family, moved through Tennessee to Indiana in 1840s. There should be a burial for the old John Jacob's wife, as apparently she did not accompany them to Indiana. I suspect Jacob had siblings, but I haven't been able to tie any to him. Any help appreciated. Arless

Hello, I am looking for information on the children of the following Miller Family. The 1860 census for N. Codorus Twp., York Co., Pa shows a George MILLER, age 54, born in Hesse Darmstadt, Germany. He is shown as living in Seven Valleys and is a farm laborer. His wife is Mary, also age 54, also born in Hesse Darmstadt. Living with them is Henry BECKOR (BECKER ? ), age 6, born in Pa. George and Mary are listed in the 1870 census living at the same place. Is Henry perhaps a grandson? These MILLERs are living very near my Greatgrandparents, George and Annie Catherine (MILLER) SHAMBAUGH (SCHAMBACH). I have been trying for a long time to find the George MILLER who was Annie's father, from Hesse Darmstadt. She was born in 1835 in Hesse Darmstadt. The BECKER name is interesting because a Conrad BECKER was a witness at the SHAMBAUGH's wedding in 1853 in Baltimore, Md. I hope this is not confusing---If anyone can help me I'd be so pleased! Thanks, Helen
I'm not looking for ancestors, but rather descendants of my great grandfather, A. J. Miller. I haven't noticed any Texas Millers on this list yet. His father, John was born in Kentucky in 1793 and married Polly Roberts in Gibson County, Indiana in 1814. Thereafter they began their trek South and West, through Illinois, Arkansas and finally Texas. I am particularly interested in finding ANYTHING more about Children: James Decatur; William W.; Katey Bell (Sutton); and Andrew J. Jr. I don't have access to any of the censuses of 1900 or after, and haven't been able to find any marriage records for the boys. Any look-up assistance will be greatly appreciated. The original was filed in Anderson Co., SC , another part of the Old Pendleton Dist., from which were formed the present counties of Pickens Co. (my home), Oconee Co. and Anderson. I have more info on these MILLERS if you are interested. Let's hear it for the MILLERS! God bless, Dolores MILLER PRINGLE now a resident of Myrtle Beach, SC Jesse MILLER's Will, (almost certainly another son of George MILLER and wife Mary, also a brother to Isaac MILLER, Sr. who was my GGGG-g'father) Will, Book A. (Date of will or the recording date may be reversed.) (This will was copied without spelling or punctuation corrections by me from the original.) Lynn, There was a huge migration from Pickens Co. and surrounding areas to GA in the 1830-1840s. A book on the subject is "Gone to Georgia." The Empson W. MILLER you listed was poss. named for Archibald's brother Emson/Emerson? ...Also, poss. Nancy Margaret was named for "Peggy" who was prob. Margaret? The names Emson/Empson and Howell almost certainly came from Jesse's wife Patsy's family as they are not MILLER names. I would like to hear from you.

Descendants of William Miller Generation No. 1 WILLIAM MILLER was born May 23, 1824 in GA, and died February 17, 1907 in Bur. Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cem., Lumpkin Co., GA. He married (1) CATHERINE A. WATTS June 10, 1845 in Lumpkin, GA. She was born November 23, 1827 in GA, and died July 07, 1888 in Bur. Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cem., Lumpkin Co., GA. He married (2) MARY SELF December 06, 1892 in Lumpkin Co., GA. She was born March 1865, and died in Hall Co., GA. Notes for WILLIAM MILLER: According to the census records William Miller was born in GA. William was a farmer and it appears he spent most of his life in Lumpkin Co., GA. He served during the Civil War, commissioned as a Captain 12 October 1861, 1116th District, Lumpkin Co., Georgia Militia. Little other information is known of William. According to information contained in a letter dated 16 February 1971 written by Elsie Miller Allen (she was a great-granddaughter] to Hattie Pruitt Merrick [a great-granddaughter who was researching the Miller family], Elsie states that her father William Cicero "always told us the Millers were of Irish descent - thus the red hair and complexion." In another letter dated 20 Jan. 1971 Elsie writes Hattie: "Hey Hattie, I have just found a small piece of paper in Daddy's (William Cicero] old Bible with the birth and death dates of: William Miller, Sr., b. 23 May 1824; d. 17 Feb. 1907 Catie Miller, no birth date; died 7 July 1888; age stated as 63 years Sarah M. Miller [wife of Newton Miller], b. 2 Jan. 1852, d. 13 Sept. 1893 and this is written in Daddy's handwriting." She further states "from a type written page glued to the inside of Daddy's Bible is the record of his family [brothers & sisters]." It was written in Cleveland, GA on 23 Jan. 1920 and gave the names and birth dates of the children of Newton V. Miller. Federal Census 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1900 "Lumpkin County, Georgia", by Andrew W. Cain Information compiled by Hattie Pruitt Merrick, daughter of Rev. Willis S. Pruit, including some of her correspondence with Elsie Miller Allen, daughter of William Cicero Miller. After her death, her research information went to her sister, Clara Pruitt Burress Information from Cynthia Renee Miller McIntosh, great, great granddaughter of William & Catherine Miller Tombstone records, Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery, Lumpkin Co., GA 1884 Bible believed to have belonged to George Miller Lumpkin County, GA records Information submitted by Robbie Miller Wilkins to "Heritage of Lumpkin Co. GA - 1832-1996" Notes for CATHERINE A. WATTS: There is no information on Catherine Watts. The names of her parents are not known at this writing. There were Watts listed in the census of Lumpkin Co., GA and it appears that David Watts may have been her father, but there is no proof yet that this is true. According to oral information passed along, the Watts family may have been part Indian. This information has not been proved either. But from the one known picture of Catherine she certainly has the characteristics - straight hair and the high cheek bones. Well all this time each was learning who we were then this tall well dressed man said "I am your Uncle Tom who has been gone 34 years", he visited for a few weeks with his relatives and disappeared again and we never heard from him again and if I remember right he never told anyone where he was living or where he had been those 34 years."
