    1. [Miller] James Love Miller (mid-late 1800s) in Co Derry, Ireland
    2. Norman Parkes
    3. Further to my last of 3 May 2006: "Interested to contact any researchers of James Love Miller and his wife Margaret Rafferty of Coleraine or Limavady, Co Derry, Ireland. Their known children were: Catherine b. 1868, Elizabeth b. 1869 and James b. 1871. Margaret Rafferty may have been sister of my great-grandmother Mary Rafferty, later Mann." Got to the Registrar's research room in Dublin today and located to marriage registration of Margaret RAFFERTY with James Love MILLAR on 29 April 1865. Married in the Parish Church at Coleraine by A B Irvine. Both of full age and unmarried. James Love Millar was a baker residing at New Row, Coleraine. His father was Alexander Millar a plumber. Margaret Rafferty was a servant residing Commons (Long Commons), Coleraine. Her father was Michael Rafferty a pensioner. They made X marks. Witnesses were Joseph King and Jane McCurdy. A Jane McCurdy was also witness at the marriage of Mary LAVERTY with my great-grandfather William Mann also in Coleraine in 1865. I am now convinced that Mary's surname was RAFFERTY and was a sister of Margaret. Descendants of James Love Millar and his wife Margaret Rafferty are genetically related to me. Regards Norman Bangor, County Down

Also, remember to change the subject of your reply so that it coincides with the message subject to which you are replying. ...so digest subscribers are reminded of this fact at the top of EVERY digest sent out. However, depending upon which email program the digest subscribers are using they may be used to clicking on links in the digests to view each message as a separate attachment which makes it easier to just quote the one post you are replying to and to preserve the subject of the individual post as well. Since the new digest default is plain text which is a long string of inline text of the entire digest--people used to the other format don't always get the hang of replying to the digest posts now--that is the reason I'm reminding everyone that they CAN have their individual preference of MIME or plain text digests--they just need to let me know if they would like to change back to the old format and I will do that for them. 2. Eric Schultz
    3. I am looking for an Anna Miller, who was born in 1775, in either Rhode Island or New York. Miller is her married name, I do not know her maiden name or her husband's name. By 1850 she was living in Parish, Oswego County, NY. I think she died between 1850 and 1860. She had at least one son named Abraham Miller who was born in 1805. He was born in Schoharie, NY, married Catherine in 1828, had 3 children, Nancy Emeline and Lydia. By 1860 he was living in Scott, Sheboygan Co., WI. He married Marietjen Fritts before 1880. In 1880 he was living in Eden, Lincoln Co., Dakota Territory. He died 1899 in Iowa. Jacob Miller is my ggg-grandfather. I believe he is the son of Anna and the brother of Abraham, though I have no direct proof of this. Jacob was born 1792 in Schoharie Co., NY. In 1815 he married Eva Christina Fritts in Germantown, Columbia Co. By 1825 he was living in Parish. I believe he died between 1855 and 1860. They had several children including: Children of Eva Fritts and Jacob Miller are: Robert Miller, born 05 April 1816 in Germantown, Columbia Co., NY; died 27 January 1874. William Miller, born 02 May 1821 in Schoharie County, NY; died 02 April 1904 in Brewerton, Onondaga Co., NY. Catherine M. 3. Hello, My John MILLER has been my brick wall. I DO have a John MILLER born ab't 1775 in NY and lived in Bath, Steuben CO. NY. He was married to a Lena Van Benschoten (also found as Vanscoter) b. 2/1779 Port Jervis or Minisink, (Orange Co) NY. They married about 1800 and had at least two children. Marinda E. MILLER b. 10/2/1806 and Priscilla (also found as Zylpha) MILLER b. 1802) Marinda married a Clemons GRIFFITH in 1823 and they had nine children. Samuel Andrus GRIFFITH, which appears to be close to ANNAS is sound. John MILLER GRIFFITH, Spencer GRIFFITH,, Calvin GRIFFITH,, Mary GRIFFITH,, Marinda GRIFFITH,, Clemons George, Jr.GRIFFITH,, Charles GRIFFITH, Eleanor Nellie GRIFFITH. I suspect that this John MILLER's family came from Massachusetts (as the GRIFFITH family also came from MA) as I find this information which has a John MILLER with a spouse with the name of Zilpha and a mother whose name is Priscilla. It was very common to name the children after family members (parents/grandparents, etc.) However, I do not have proof that this is my John MILLER, but the names are the same and the birth years fit nicely. Name: John Miller Sex: M Birth: 24 JUL 1771 Father: John Miller b: 27 NOV 1737 Death: 1 DEC 1807 in Middleboro, Massachusetts Mother: Zilpah Tinkham b: 25 JUL 1737 d. Death: 26 NOV 1818 in Middleboro, Massachusetts Also: This John MILLER (b. Nov/27/1737) was married 30 OCT 1735 in Middleboro, Plymouth, Massachusetts to PRISCILLA BENNETT b. 21 AUG 1711 and died 07 OCT 1754. Priscilla's parents were Father: PETER BENNETT Mother: PRICILLA HOWLAND. Children of this John MILLER b. Nov. 27, 1737 and Zilpah Tinkham b: 25 JUL 1737 are: Hannah Miller b: 25 MAR 1765 Lydia Miller b: 2 JUN 1766 Abishai Miller b: 17 NOV 1767 Zilpha Miller b: 3 NOV 1769 John Miller b: 24 JUL 1771 Priscilla Miller b: 16 APR 1773 I believe this is my John MILLER b. July 24, 1771 which I have born about 1775, however I do not have proof or am not certain. It is the names that seem to make this connection and the ages. Zilpha or Zylpha is definitely an unusual name. Does anyone else on the MILLER list have these John MILLERs in their research? Marian was born in Bemus Point, NY (Chautauqua County) in 1925. I don't have alot of detail on Pete's brothers, uncles, cousins, etc. but I do have some of their names. Most of my info is buried away in boxes and my computer recently "ate" a ton of files. I had PAF (Personal Ancestry File) document with over 200 names of direct ancestors and it left me with 29! Anyway, the story about "Indian John" Miller sounded interesting and I'm sure we've all probably got an ancestor named John Miller back there somewhere! Thank you, Sharon >>> Hi, >>> I am trying to find any information on John (or Annas) Miller. I don't >>> know when he was born or died, or who he was married to. 3. John Annas Miler was born in 1752; married Veronica "Freny" Yoder (1753-1821); died June 13, 1802. John was born 5 years before the Hochstetler Massacre, the Delaware Indian attack in which his father was wounded, hence the nickname, "Indian," or "Wounded" John. Your Elizabeth was John Annas's seventh child who married Moses Beachy, correct? If so, a good source would be the John F. Miller Family History by Emanuel J. Miller. My ancestor is Jacob, the fifth child, your Elizabeth's older brother. For more information: books by J. Virgil Miller are an excellent source.
