It is very likely that the Jas Corrington of Reading, Hillsdale, MI, in the 1860 census(married to Mrs. Ellany THOMAS) was actually Jos or Joshua Corrington b. 1805 NY. I found Mrs. Ellana Thomas Corrington's death record in Shelby, Newaygo, MI, 1886, where she had been living with her son, Newell Thomas. In that death record transcription her surname was spelled CORENTON. I do not know where Ellana was buried. Anna (Corrington) Wiser Philo (b. 1851 MI) died 1906 in Coldwater, Branch, MI and was buried at Quincy Cemetery. The death record listed her father as Joseph Corrington, mother unknown. Informant was Martha Clare [Clair] who was the daughter of Mrs. Elana Thomas Corrington and Chauncey Thomas. The 1850 and 1860 census for Raisin, Lenawee, MI, has a John Corrington / Corenton (b. 1830 NY). He is CORRINTON in 1850 and CORENTON in 1860. In the 1860 census he is living with his wife(?) Pheobe Corenton and a young girl, Anna Corenton, b. 1851 MI, who would seem to be his daughter, but was probably a younger sister, based on the information above. John Corrington died at Blue Lake, Muskegon, MI in 1869, father listed as Joseph Corrington and mother was Rebecca. This surname has been a tough one to follow in MI and NY. Any information to share on this family is very welcome! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
