    1. Re: [MILENAWE] CLARK, NOAH SON OF JEHIEL
    2. Sorry this message is long, but I don't want to leave anything out. Noah and Mary Harkness Clark are buried out in Reynold's Corners Cemetery in Manchester Twp, Washtenaw Co., Michigan, just a stones throw from US. 12 in Lenawee Co, Franklin Twp. Noah was born 29 Oct 1789 and died 9 Sep 1869. Mary was born 7 Apr 1797 an died 18 Jan 1863. Charles died 7 Nov 1893 and was born 1810 or 1811. His Wife Lydia Beckley Clark was born about 1819 and died 29 Mar 1904. Both Charles and Lydia are buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, in Manchester Twp. Don't know why for sure, there are 2 tombstones there, just across from where my Jenter family are buried. I took pictures of their stones last week, but I need to download them yet from my camera. A lot of Lydia's Beckley family are also buried out at Reynold's Corners. So I don't know why Charles are Lydia are buried in town. Reynold's Corners Cemetery is a small rural cemetery. In the 1864 Washtenaw Co. Plat Map Noah owned property in section 26, and Charles owned property in section 20 of Manchester Township. When Noah died in 1869, the property would have been transferred to someone, Lydia had been gone by then, she died in 1863. We believe there might be records at the Register of Deeds Office, in Ann Arbor, Michigan the county seat for Washtenaw Co. Also we believe that there may also be Noah's will there too, I plan to get to the Record of Deeds office next week. I am going to see what is there, hopefully a will in addition to what happened to the property. I just thought, I need to check our historical room at the Manchester District Library, for later plat books to see whose name is on the property. I too, think that maybe Charles was the younger brother of Noah. Unfortunately, the death notice in the Manchester Enterprise when Charles died in 1893 said he died of paralysis, not obit actually showing survivors. Lydia's obit in 1904 was longer and named their children. I did a little searching of collateral lines, there are other Clark's buried in Reynold's Corners, with DOB close to Charles. The other thing too I plan to explore is a death certificate for Charles in 1893. I checked the online LDS indexing system and there was nothing there for him, however the LDS in Saline, MI has death records and his should be there, however whether is shows parents, is any ones guess. When Lydia died in 1904, there was a death certificate for here that had places for parents, although only her fathers last name was show, no mother. Hopefully a record of Death for Charles will include parents. I am going to try to get to the LDS on Saturday morning. I have been researching Charles and Noah for a gal out east, so a friend of hers can join the DAR. We have checked the DAR members page, but there is no documentation they can use. I have proof of marriage between Charles was 33and Lydia Beckley was 24. They were married in Manchester Twp, on 21 May 1844 by Oliver Nichols, Justice of the Peace. Unfortunately it does not show parents, and only God knows if there are any records from Oliver Nichols around anywhere. The source of the document said Marriage certificate. this info was found at the Bentley Library on the Campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. The records were gathered by the DAR chapter of Ann Arbor Michigan. I also have the DAR death record from the same DAR showing the death of Mary Clark, died 18 Jun 1863, at age 66 years and she was the wife of Noah. These records were filled out in pen and ink. Probably sometime in the 1930's by the DAR. The ball point ben was invented in 1937-1938, but people still used pen and ink after that time. Also included in these records I have are the birth records of the following children of Charles and Lydia. 1. Alfred Ernest Clark, born 10- May 1854, 2. Ina Gertrude Clark born 20 Sep 1857, 3. Harman Clark born 15 Aug 1847, 4. Charles Irwin Clark born 31 Jul 1851, 5. Howard Beckley Clark born 13 Jan 1861 All of the above children were born in Manchester Twp. Records made by the DAR said they were taken from the family bible, wonder where that is now??? At the time of Lydia's death in 1904, 4 of the 5 children were living still. Harmon in Manchester Twp, Irwin in Saranac, Mrs. Ina Hunt in Manchester, and Howard also in Manchester. Cross you fingers, a death certificate from Washtenaw Co, MAY show parentage for Charles. Also the record of deeds office might contain transfer records AND a will for Noah, showing family. I will be going to Reynold's Corners Cemetery tomorrow, hopefully if it does not rain, and I am going to get pictures of the Clark family tombstones. If anyone wishes copies of any of this documentation, I would be more than happy to scan and send it to you.
