    1. Re: DeLong, James B and family
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: DeLong, Pearson/Pierson, Peckham Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/mFB.2ACE/2653.1.1.2.1 Message Board Post: Hello Anne, Many, many thanks for your posting of the link to my DeLong family, mentioned in the book "Portrait and Biographical Album of Ionia and Montcalm Counties, Michigan". I was not aware of this source and it is very interesting that the book mentions my g-g-grandmother, Ann E. DeLong, although she was not the daughter of Marietta Moses DeLong, who seems to have died around 1838, as the above source mentions. A DeLong family record I have mentions the second marriage of Thomas Gordon DeLong to Miss Elizabeth Pearsons (sic) July 7, 1844. Ann Elizabeth DeLong was born Nov. 2, 1845 in Adrian, Michigan. Her mother, Elizabeth (Pearsons?) DeLong was born April 6th, 1827, according to this family record found in the Bible of Ann E. DeLong. I think this Elizabeth Pearsons may have been the daughter of John Pierson/Pearson of Adrian, Lenawee Co., Michigan. Unfortunately, marriage records of Adrian, MI do not seem to go back that far, and since the DeLong family was not Quaker, I may not be able to find any corroboration of the DeLong-Pearson marriage. Ann E. DeLong lived with this man and his family in the 1850 census, listed as a 4 year old child. John Pearson/Pierson lived in Michigan until his death between 1870-1880. Ann E. DeLong died in 1924 at the home of her half-brother, Charles W. DeLong, but I was not aware until last week that her half-brother James B. DeLong had even survived childhood. Your helpful information will answer many questions I had about his family. Thomas Gordon DeLong was enumerated in 1860 in the Mariposa County, CA census with a wife named Deliah and a boy named Herbert DeLong, born 1847 in Michigan. It is very possible that this boy was not the son of Thomas Gordon DeLong if this was Deliah's second marriage. Perhaps the enumerator listed him as DeLong when his surname should have been something else. I was not able to find a record of their deaths in California however, Thomas Gordon DeLong had no family with him in the 1870 Mariposa County, CA census. Maybe someone from Deliah Clapsaddle's family will know more about this. Thank you again for the link regarding James B. DeLong's bio. I appreciate your posting the source! Jackie
