In reply to recent messages about HOLDRIDGE, I don't know if this will help, but I can provide some information. In 1844, Fulton Jack (my great-great grandfather) sold a portion of his farm that had been used as a cemetery. Four persons, believed to be his neighbors, purchased undivided interests in this parcel: Robert Boyd, James Boyd, William Colvin, and James Holdridge. A copy of the deed is at http://tinyurl.com/8fnr2 . An undated map of Raisin Township shows the cemetery as a separate parcel. It also shows four neighboring properties with the same four surnames: A portion of S 1/2 Section 10 owned by Robt Boyd A portion of S 1/2 Section 10 owned by James Boyd W 1/2 NW 1/4 Section 11 owned by William Colvin W 1/2 SW 1/4 Section 11 owned by Horace Holdridge Copy at http://tinyurl.com/8y4cz . I assume that Horace Holdridge might have inherited his parcel James Holdridge. A map of the township dated 1893 shows that Horace Holdridge still owned W 1/2 SW 1/4 Section 11, although other properties had changed hands. Copy at http://tinyurl.com/5kjjf . I assume that the undated map must have been draw sometime between 1844 and 1893. Besides the ownership changes noted above, the 1893 map shows a railroad (Warren R.R.) that wasn't present on the undated map. Neal McLain Brazoria, Texas [email protected]
