    3. Hi: I just wondered is this is the same school originally started by Laura Haviland? If so, you should be able to find many references to her life including a book she herself wrote. She was born 20 Dec 1808 and died 20 Apr 1898 in Lenawee Co. If you are not from around Michigan, you may not know that there is a "bigger than life" statue of her in front of the Adrian County Building. Sje is also one of the original Michigan woman honored at the Women's History Museum in Lansing (not sure of the exact name). Good hunting. 3. This is not the same school as started by Aunt Laura. Her statue is situated in front of the City of Adrian office building, right next to the Lenawee County HIstorical Society (old city library, built in part by funds from Carnegie) This school is now run by the state, and because of privacy rules and security rules, we are not allowed much access to the grounds. The Lenawee County HIstorical Society, may have additional or more recent photos of the Adrian Girls School, also known as the Industrial School. It was even at one time a coed facility, but I believe a few years ago, they went back to all girls, COULD BE WRONG, that is what I seem to remember.
