You might try looking in County Directories of the 1890's to see if Mr McCollough is listed with an occupation. The Adrian City Library has some years. The 1894 Michigan Census would be a good resource. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. Re: [MILENAWE] Have family from the 1880's to 1910 in Lenawee?
    2. John Rich was born in somewhere in New York in 1811, Mariah (surname?) was born in Vermont in 1815. Their three sons, Reuben, George and William were born in Livingston or Monroe County, NY. Between 1841 and 1850 they moved from Monroe County, NY to Cuyahoga County, Ohio. Between 1850 and 1860 John, Mariah, Reuben and William moved to Blissfield, Lenawee County. Reuben was in the Navy during the Civil War and William was in the Ohio Cavalry. John joined the Tracy Lodge Masons in 1865. He died in 1884 and Mariah in 1886. Both are buried in the Village Cemetery in Deerfield. Mariah is noted as illiterate in the 1850 census which may account for the name Mariar on her tombstone. Mary Godfrey was listed in the 1860 census and was Mary Rich in 1870. Was she adopted? She married Jonathan Cannon and died in 1940. William, wife Mary Jane, and five sons lived in Deerfield in 1880. William died in Toledo in 1919. My father, Clinton was born in Ridgeway Twp in 1900, and after his mother died in 1901 he was raised by his uncle Elbert and Emma Beach in Deerfield. I will write separately about the Beach family. Richard Rich

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: evelynschumacher21 Surnames: Iffland, Schaubrenner, Dobertin, Vahle, Kunze, Riecke Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.michigan.counties.lenawee/5034/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The Iffland who had come from Germany between 1926 and 1928 and their parents Schaubrenner who had preceded were living in Wayne county in 1930. It is possible that some went to Lenawee county. That is why I am posting my query here as well. I'm looking for the descendants of IFFLAND and SCHAUBRENNER August Schaubrenner *2-11-1872 (should be 1862) in Freiburg, Baden, Germany. He and his wife Emma/Emmy née??? *12-21-1867 in Magdeburg, Prussia, Saxony immigrated into the USA on July 1, 1923. 1930 Census says they lived in Springswells, later part of Dearborn, Wayne County, Michigan August was naturalised on 5-2-1930, Emma/Emmy on 12-6-1935. They were followed on 5-7-1926 by granddaughter Dora Iffland *2-10.1909 in Leipzig (nat. 6-15-1927) On 5-26-1928 immigration of Dora's sister Elli Iffland * 1908 in Leipzig and their mother Margarethe Iffland née Schaubrenner *1-30-1886, nat. 5-8-1929 If Margarethe Iffland came along with a husband is unknow. So there were soon three generations of Schaubrenner and Iffland inWayne, Michigan. There were not many IFFLAND in Saxony and even less SCHAUBRENNER in the whole of Germany. As my Iffland ancestors were born in Magdeburg I believe Dora and Elli Iffland were related. If you are a descendant of those Iffland and Schaubrenner or happen to know any of their descendants please email me at byriga@aol.com Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. This is a wonderful act of kindness. Living on the West Coast, it's hard to just jump in the car and take a drive there! The main surnames I am interested in are: Allen, Cole, Rhoades, Hill, May and Myers. My gg-grandfather was Samuel Rhoades who married Mariah Allen. Her father was Ambrose Allen. Am especially interested in trying to find death/burial information of Samuel's parents, Frederick Sweigart and Anna May Rhoades. Their last-known whereabouts were in Adrian on the 1860 Census. Thanks, again! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
