I was the provider of the information to Ms. Lewis. However, I never understood why it was put in a book involving Lenawee Co., families. By 1848 Nicholas Moak was in St. Clair County, Michigan. My third great grandmother, Charity W. MARCY (also spelled MARCEY) is buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Adrian. Charity was born about 1821 and died in 1870. Also buried at Lot 48, Block 20 is her son-in-law, John S. "Fatty" PECK (1833-1885). I can not place the other three people buried with them: John P. ROFF (also spelled ROOF) who was buried on 19 September 1880; Mary ROFF buried 19 December 1890; and Ina E. LAYTON buried 27 May 1893. Since I do not know Charity's maiden name I am wondering if John P. ROFF or ROOF could be her brother. The 1880 census shows that he was born about 1817 in New York, as was Charity. That census also shows that Mary ROFF or ROOF was born in Kentucky. I have no information on Ina E. LAYTON. Has anyone researched the ROOF/ROFF families of Lenawee County? Can anyone tell me if Charity MARCY is related to them? Thank you for any help. Sue Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. His daughter told me that the children were later separated and some were raised in an orphanage in Marcellus, MI. She also told me that the rest of the children ended up in the Chicago area.
