The record you sent of Roxie's 2nd marriage is correct. I have her first marriage etc. on my family tree, "King-Brown-Gleason," on Ancestry.com. Because of varying records, I have checked Shiawassee, Ingham, and Lenawee counties for her birth record, and can't find it. In 1900 her family is in Owosso. Her first marriage record has her father's name as Charles Brown, instead of Fred Brown, so not having a birth record has left a ? about whether she was adopted. Any possible newspaper record of Henry Brown's death in 1895 in Tecumseh? Thanks so much for your time, Judy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I recently found the death of Henry Brown,in Tecumseh, Lenawee, on 09 Nov 1895, 59 years old, born in New YOrk. (Last year you found his wife's obituary for me.)I believe he was a Civil War soldier, but because his name is so common, I haven't been able to figure out his service record. There are even other Henry Brown's in Lenawee county. Does the library have any info on Soldiers who served from Lenawee Co.? Also, my husband's grandmother was born in Tecumseh in June of 1896, according to her death certificate. Cannot find a birth record. Her parents did not live there, but Uncles and Aunts did. I wondered if there would be anything in the newspaper about her birth. Her name was Roxanna or Roxie Brown, child of Fred and Louisa Brown, who as far as we know were living in Owosso, Shiawassee, MI at the time. Maybe they were visiting Lenawee county..... Any info you can find would be much appreciated, Judy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Lenawee List: We are very fortunate to have a new volunteer who will accept Lookup requests for Obituaries at the Lenawee Co Historical Museum. 1. Please limit your request to no more than 2 lookups at a time. A request for "all the obituaries under one surname" will not be accepted. 2. Please remember that anyone you request to do a lookup is a volunteer and remember to thank them for their time. 3. Please note, the volunteer should not be expected to bear the expense of photocopying or mailing the information and you should send a SASE to her address after contacting her. With all that in mind, please welcome Karen McKeon, and send your requests to this email address: kmckeon@tc3net.com

Sarah Knapp was originally married to Benjamin Knapp. She died in 1850 and is listed on the 1850 census as dead the census year. Evidently she died of childbirth. The child was named Joseph Goodman Knapp. From what I understand, she had left Benjamin, married Joseph Knapp, had George Fuller Knapp, and Joseph Knapp must have died within 9 months of the birth of the baby. She was buried in the cemetary as the wife of Benjamin Knapp, and he must have adopted the baby Joseph Goodman. George Fuller Knapp apprenticed under a blacksmith when he was nine. Benjamin must have been willing to take Joseph, but not George. Maybe you can add more to the mystery, or correct some of it.
