    1. [MILENAWE] Charles L. THOMAS (b. 1814, Penfield, NY) & father, Ransom THOMAS (b. 1787/1777 CT) of Adrian, Lenawee, MI
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: CStanley84 Surnames: Thomas Cure Baker Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.michigan.counties.lenawee/5077/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Illustrated history and biographical record of Lenawee County, Mich By Richard Illenden Bonner Pg. 258 [part of biographical piece on the Joseph Baker family, which starts on pg 256] ...Charles L. THOMAS was born in the town of Penfield, Ontario County, N. Y., June 21, 1814. His father, Ransom THOMAS, was a pioneer of Western New York. He was born in Connecticut, December 31, 1787. In 1810 he married Miss Kate CURE, daughter of John and Eleanor CURE, of Saratoga, N. Y., and they had a family of nine children. Mrs. Kate (CURE) THOMAS was born in the State of New York, near the Hudson river, in 1792, and died in Adrian in 1865. Ransom THOMAS came to Michigan with his family in 1833, and settled in Adrian township. He died there in 1850. Charles L. THOMAS came to Michigan with his parents in 1833, and always followed farming. He was an active, energetic man, and took a great interest in all public affairs, but never would accept public office. He was a successful farmer, and a much respected citizen. He was a member of Greenly Lodge, 103, F. & A. M., of Adrian. He was one of the earliest settlers in the township of Adrian, and no man did more to help the ne! w settlers in locating, and relieving their sufferings and wants than he. He was stricken with heart trouble while eating breakfast, June 14, 1876, and passed away, beloved by all who knew him. [I'm not aware of a link between my THOMAS line and this one, but curious about Ransom's parentage and family links. My THOMAS (Chauncey) was also born in CT, 1785, and lived in nearby Hillsdale County, MI.] Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Yes, the Forche Rd. is a local family. I don't know who the original family was, but there are several here in Blissfield still. Keith Forche, for example, is current owner of hardware here in town.
